Question [BDP9700] Aspect Ratio problem with DVDs?

    Hi,

    setup:
    - HDMI-Video=auto or native
    - HDMI=16:9

    DVD:
    - 16:9 (important: content is 2.40:1 !!!)

    TV (21:9):
    - shows (via option button -> status): 576i
    - zoom: auto or native

    Problem:
    - the 2.40:1 content is compressed (horizontally)
    - heads become coneheads

    Observed:
    - BDP5500 with FW 3.71
    - BDP9700 with FW 3.80

    Workaround:
    - if I setup the BDPs to 720p or 1080p I don't have the wrong aspect ratio

    Can anyone confirm or deny?

    Hi,

I've watched a couple of DVDs in the meantime and cannot confirm that, but I will give it a try again.

    Hi

What do you mean by the below:
    [quote]
    setup:
    - HDMI-Video=auto or native
    - HDMI=16:9
    [end of quote]

I could see there is "TV display" and "HDMI video" under 9700's Video setting menu. Do you mean "TV display=16:9" for "HDMI=16:9"?

Anyhow, I tried a couple of combinations with "TV display" and "HDMI video" on 9700 and aspect ratio setting on my 16:9 TV. I happen to have a DVD which is 2.40:1 aspect ratio. But I cannot reproduce your reported issue.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

    thanks to all for testing...

I did a complete reset of my home equipment and now everything is working again. I think there was a handshake problem. Now the subtitle shift also works again with DVD subtitles... yesterday they don't...

    Thanks again,

    Toengel@Alex
