[Wish] Flexible Sorting order of USB content
Dear all,
I need support from you for a feature request which is the sorting order of USB content.
Problem description
At the moment, the content of a folder is not sorted alphabetically. However, on every digital device this sorting order is standard.
The problem is: if I have an folder on my USB device with many e.g. images or videos which are consecutively numbered:
001.jpg
002.jpg
...
150.jpg
In some cases, I need to scroll the whole folder to find number 005.jpg - since the content is not ordered alphabetically (by name).
It seems that the sorting order is "last modified" or something else.
My suggestion:
I'd like to have in the option menu an entry for "Sorting order" with a sub menu which contains at least the following options:
- by name (alphabetically)
- last modified
- type
- size
As all of the BDP operating software is based on Linux, this should be a "simple" task for the developers. But it would be a great deal for Philips' customers.
I read in many internet forums that many customers do not understand the sorting order and they need to much time to search a file due to the different (from standard "by name") sorting order.
This behaviour is actually present in all BDPs - and also in the (2010) TV series.
So - I need your support. If you think this is a good enhancement for all BDPs, please vote for this feature.
Awaiting feedback,
Toengel@Alex

I already asked this in the Known bugs thread.

Toengel,
please add your request to the TV section as well. We need this feature/correction in the TV sets as well and I would like this has a great visibility in the whole forum.

Hi
Definitely think this is agood idea (also 2010 models). I'd also like to add a feature next/previous page so no need to scroll one file at the time. This is also of importance when via the TV-set using e.g. a media server and of course USB via TV.
regards

Hi Toengel,
Good point. I would prefer to press a separate key to go to next page and of course another key for previous page. I hope this clarifies.
Thanks

Hi,
Not sure what the button is called, but I instinctively press the one on the outer ring to the right for next and left for previous. Perhaps not perfect it felt most natural for me.
thanks

Hi all,
There is a workaround to have the files played in a wanted order: take a look here.
