Philips LCD TV 40PFL4706 turning on an off

I bought my Philips LCD TV 40PFL4706 today and it keeps turning on and off, constantly with a loud pop. brand new out of the box and it is not working. I am rather ticked off at the moment. Now I have to pack it up an haul it back to the retailer unless there is an answer tot he problem.

    Phil,

Here is what I would suggest:

    1. Perform a firmware upgrade on the TV by visiting the Philips Support page: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...&slg=en&scy=US

If that did not help, try the following:
    1. Unplug & replug to your AC outlet and see if that helps.
    2. Try another AC outlet in your home.
    3. Try using a Surge Protector.

If you want to try to troubleshoot it before you take it back to the store, the most efficient method to do so will be by reaching our customer care center at:

    1-866-771-4018 Monday - Saturday 8:00 am to€“ 11:00 pm EST/EDT
    Sunday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm EST/EDT

If none of the above things work, please take it back to the store and get it exchanged.

Again, really sorry for the inconvenience, thanks for being a valued Philips customer.

    Thanks
