    Thumbs up Experience thread - FW v000.064.018.000 (64.18) - for 6xx8 Series - 2013

    Hi,

The new FW is live. For technical feedback (pos. and neg. points) please post here: ttp://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?11911-Technical-feedback-FW-v000-064-018-000-(64-18)-for-6-7-8-9xx8-series-2013&p=55532#post55532.This thread is more for details and discussions.

IMPORTANT: After upgrading your TV, it is necessary to perform a "cold start". This means that, after the TV is running again (after the update), shut down the TV, wait 1 minute (till all components are shut down), and unplug the TV from the mains (pull power cord) for 2 minutes before starting again.

    Changelog

    • Solution about consistent behavior of the EXIT key.
    • Homescreen adaptation for Germany. (Kabel/Antennen Fernsehen)
    • Hebrew text disabled in Now en Next + 8 days EPG. (Mainly solved for Israel market)
    • Improvement stability behavior when starting up from HDMI source.
    • Live TXT subtitles from broadcast no longer shown during playback of a recording without
    • BBC iPlayer, video and radio program is functioning again.
    • Solution about sometimes no connection to Philips Smart TV portal during virgin installation.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

After updating my 47PFL6008K to the newest firmware (QF2EU-0.64.18.0), I lost all text in the EPG received from my cable provider over DVB-C. It is like the programs and starting/ending times are there, but there is no text. Here is a photo of how it looks like - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...419_175235.jpg

This started at the same time when I made the firmware update two days ago. I asked my provider and they said that there is no problem on their side, so it must be coming from the new firmware update. Can you please give me a solution to this problem? I have tried the option "Reinstall TV" and also made a clean search on all channels, nothing helps. The TV Guide data over the internet is not an option for me, as it doesn't have most of my channels.

Hope there is a possible fix for this in the near future.

    Hi Etherion,

Please try a cold reboot (unplug - wait 1 minute - plug your TV) after a SW upgrade if you haven't don yet. Do you, after that, still see the problem?

    Hi,

I have tried quite a lot of things since the SW upgrade

    - Several cold reboots with power unplug
    - A couple TV Reinstalls (the option from the general settings menu)
    - A lot of channel rescans for different countries and settings

...and still there is no difference - I have the timeframes for the programs in the EPG, but no text for the name of the shows for all but one channel in the guide and I know for a fact that my provider is sending data for a lot more. And now out of 133 channels, I have info for 1 where before the upgrade there was for most of them.

Please let me know if it is possible to downgrade to the previous firmware or if there is an upcoming update that will fix this. This problem is quite annoying.

    Greetings,
    Etherion

    Hi Etherion,

Don't know if you still have the issue, but here is the answer from our EPG guy:
The data is offered by his cable company. The software upgrade erased all data in the TV.
The data is loaded during the night if he keeps his TV connected to mains power (can take 24h). Can you try and feedback?
If it does not help, you can contact the cable provider.

    Hi JuAn,

The issue still remains, no names of shows are shown in info or in the EPG.

Of course I have contacted my cable company about the possibility that they don't send the data, I did this even before I posted my problem here. Unfortunately the guide is being sent and all other customers have it. About the other suggestion - the TV is always on mains power, so there was plenty of time for the guide to be updated since my first post more than a month ago...

Could it be a problem with displaying cyrillic characters in the name in the guide? I saw a post by a polish guy in this forum that special characters are not shown in the name and cyrillic are all like this (the TV is in Bulgaria). I still get all the timeframes correctly in the guide, but no text for the name of the show, which would suggest that the guide is received, but there is some problem displaying the name. I did not have this problem with the previous firmware.

Greetings and thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    Etherion

I performed the same firmware upgrade from 15 to 18, but then on a 42PFL7008.
I have the same problem with the EPG.

    1) with version 15, EPG data did show
    2) after upgrading to 18, EPG data is not shown.

I have attached some images to clarify why I believe the problem is with the TV software and not in the EPG data:

    - I have a DBVC tuner running on my NAS which retrieves it's EPG data from the same DVBC network. All data is complete
    - The Guide on the TV is empty, but does show time slots.
    - The info button on the remote, sometimes does show current and next up show data
    - When connected via an ipad, the ipad does show current and next episode data.

So I appreciate that you need to determine that the fault is indeed with the TV/firmware and not on the users/cable companies end, but this problem really lies with the TV/firmware.
If you need any additional information to get this bug on the priority list, please let me know.

Great, thanks for the comparison with the other devices. I was a bit worried that nobody else reported the bug here, although I was quite sure the bug was in the TV software, but I didn't have any other EPG-capable device to prove it.

I hope that now Philips has proof of the problem, they can fix it quickly. And of course, if I can help by providing more data, I will gladly do so.

    Greetings,
    Etherion

    Hello,

Can we get an update on the problem, please? It's been months since the problem exists with no solution and I would even accept a downgrade of the firmware, because with this bug we are lacking such a basic feature on what is supposed to be a premium TV.

    Greetings,
    Etherion

Atamalar, with your behavior, I would be surprised if anyone took you serious enough to even try to help.

A bit more adult approach to communication might help.

Hi Ina, uaahh i´m really afraid of using leaked unofficial software on my philips tv...

where is the difference between official lame, buggy crap-software and the unofficial soft?

It´s to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea!
