HTS8161B blue ray sound bar unknow disc error

Bought this soundbar early 2010. First off it was DOA. Due to delivery issues it took 4 months to replace with a new one (!).
I have not used the soundbar very much but I started experiencing loading error problems after about a year and a half. I have used a cleaning disc and that seems to solve the problem for a while. But lately it hardly plays any DVD or Bluray. I have contacted the Philips customer care about this but they simply say bad luck but your warranty ran out you can have it repaired at your own expence. I read on this forum about another owner with the same issue that repair was, according to Philips, not even possible due to lack of spare parts. I also own the Aurora pfl9903 TV which the soundbar was advertised with at the time and this has, it seems, the same build quality as the soundbar since it died last week. It is currently under repair at the Philips workshop. Out of leniency I "only" have to pay EUR 270 for a TV which costed EUR 2800 little over 3 years ago. Suffice to say this was my last Philips purchase.

Hi Tuur, sorry to hear about your experience. Normally when loading issues occur its either software issues or more likely a hardware fault. Unfortunately this could happen whenever during the products lifetime, but in most cases not at all. Can I ask you which country you based in because out of leniency after three years sound like quite a short time to me…

Exactly, I expected way better aftersales from a company like Philips. I'm from the Netherlands btw.
