Based on Philips' current official specification sheets on their website, 8007-series models from 2012 and 2013 have similar audio processing capabilities. These sheets don't mention supported audio formats. In their users manuals however, though be it in other words, same remarks about multi-channel capabilities are included. (NB: as well in the 2012- as in the 2013-model manual both 5.1 AND DTS are mentioned on pag.13 in the English versions)

So now, for the 2013 models, the support for DTS will be added also AFTER it's official introduction. I can't think of any good reason why it will not be in the new FW for 2012 7**7-and-upwards-series-TV's as well. What makes you think it will not? I would say we all agree it should be...

    Dear all,

To be clear: the coming DTS support will only be on 2k13 products of 7000 series and higher.

    These are clearly marketing decisions.....

..>Of course, there has to be SOME KIND of relevant practical advantage in a 2013-models over 2012 ones. Why else would new customers pay more for a newer model? In fact, I now realize this is likely the main reason why this functionality will be added to 2013 models at all.
Thank you Philips for letting your '2012 model field test customers' behind with their unfinished products. And don't forget to alter the manuals of those as far as the DTS comment concerned; it is not even supported anyways.

Sorry but we cannot hide our disappointment !

6 days ago Philips (and other well informed people ...) said "no DTS":

Since yesterday the answer is finally YES for DTS but only for 2013 TV devices for marketing reasons ????

Does marketing have an idea of customers expectation ? We are pushing hard on the forum to help Philips improving issues/bug/missing features... and the only answer is

Sorry again but nothing is clear to me. One day is black, next is white. What is the validity of this ?

    Really disconcerting...

    Hi Ina,
Typically the kind of position we're waiting from Philips ! Should we hope for good news regarding DTS and 2012 TV models ?

I'm aware being sarcastic probably won't get us to decide Philips marketing team, but it's definitely hard to digest such a decision regarding DTS support...

It means that my 6 months old 46PFL8007 is officially obsolete, for marketing reasons.
    Amazing
