Unhappy Firmware upgrade not detected with DVP3850K/98

    Hi.

I posted earlier but it didn't show up on the site.

    I bought a new DVP3850K/98 last Thursday, 23 May 2013.

I checked the firmware revision on my DVD player and noticed it is older
than the file on Philips' website.

I followed the instructions on Philips' website by extracting the dvp3850k_98_fus_eng.zip file to my
computer and then copying the extracted folder (DVP3850K_98) to the root of a newly formatted (FAT32) Transcend
    8GB USB thumb drive.

When I turn on the DVD player and insert the USB thumb drive, then select "USB", it should automatically
run the update program but nothing happens unfortunately.

    Please help.

    I appreciate any assistance.

    Sincerely,
    Rick

Hi, do you have a smaller USB-stick to use? Even though the players should recognise larger USB-sticks, my experience is that the smaller the better when updating products. However if this do not work, try with a disk to see if player recognise the disk. I have attached the instructions for you convenience below. Please let us know how you get on!

Hi Teddy. Thanks for your reply.
I replied but it didn't show up. I guess the
    forum has a few glitches.

I don't have a smaller USB stick. What size would you recommend?

I tried formatting the stick as only 2GB, trying both FAT16 and FAT32 file systems and it didn't work. I tried a DVD-R but no dialog box appeared on the screen.

I read the service manual and it said to rename the file in all capital letters but it didn't work.
