BDP3380/12 Subtitles going out of sync

I have a BDP3380 player and I've had some issues with subtitles going out of sync in the end/second half of movies. I've tested on my computer, where the files worked as intended so the problem isn't that the timings in the files are off. I searched for similar issues and found this post:
    http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...es-out-of-sync

The problem described there seems identical to mine. I've updated to the latest software (2.66) but the problem is still there. Is there any update on the possible solution mentioned in that thread?

Oh great. As mentioned in the link I have had similar (subs OOS) issue with my 2 BDP3200.

The issue was confirmed by the tech support staff.

To solve it Philips offered to exchange my players to BDP3380 - I was told the 3380 had been tested and did not have any sub sync issues.

    Not good...

They did mention the BDP3480 too as another option, but now I don't know who to belive.

Well, my BDP3380/12 definitely has some issue with subtitles.

It's not happening with all movies though, some work fine all the way. I haven't done any extensive tests to see if it could be related to the format of the movies (the one that made me start looking it up was an .avi-file, don't remember the others) or something else. I'll post again if I notice something that might be relevant.

Pause/play does nothing to fix the external subs out-of-sync issue. From what I've been told it is not fixable, but only affects a limited amount of players.

As already mentioned I was offered to have my players exchanged, but then nothing happened. And now it seems they were going to replace it with another faulty model.

I did try pause/play, as well as jumping around a bit between chapters, and fast forward/rewind, but nothing helped fix the sync.
It seemed to happen at the same time and with the same delay both when watching through the entire movie as when I jumped to sometime in the latter half, but I didn't do any exact measuring so I can't say for sure. The next time it happens I'll look around some more and see if something sticks out with the subs, or movie files.

    Dea maulflower,

would it be possible to send me a PM with download link to one of the files so we can test it and find out what is causing the issues with the subtitle sync?

You may either upload the file to Dropbox or through Wetransfer (in case you are using this, please enter your email address in both as sender and receiver and provide us only with the URL you will receive).

Your help on this would be very appreciated.

Thank you very much and looking forward to hearing back from you soon.

    Kidn Regards,

I think the OOS issue affecting both BDP3200 and BDP3380 has been if not identified then at least recognized by Philips.
