DS8800w/10 - Flashing red light- Help!!

    Hi,

I am one extremely dissatisfied philips customer at the moment. I bought my DS8800w/10 just over a year ago & to date have been quite happy with it. a few days ago it stopped working, i cant connect it to my wifi anymore so the speaker is useless. I have tried going through the set up from beginning but am unable to get past the 2nd step, when I press the wifi set up button instead of flashing green & yellow it just flashes red. I called Philips customer care & was told oh red light is bad & that as my warranty was up the only option was to send it for repair when I asked where I could do this & explained I lived in Ireland I was told that there was actually nothing I could do!!!

Can somebody please please help me!! Is this true are my speakers that cost me quite a bit if money just over a year ago now fit only for the bin??!!! I thought Philips was a high tech cutting edge market leader trustworthy company but going by the help I've been given & their customer service attitude this does not seem to be the case!

Any help from anybody is greatly appreciated.

    Elaine
ps i have tried re-booting speaker, router etc.

Lightbulb DS8800w/10 - Flashing red light- Help and fix!!

Dear all, for this symptom there is a fix, however the main speaker needs to be sent for repair, so its its been working ok and now does not its more than likely this prob.
There is an independent UK company I used and they charge a fixed out of warranty rate of £65, they also update the software to the latest version as part of the repair/update.

Let me know if you want any more details and I will post a reply.

    Dear Lainydon!
I find it quite strange, that you haven't seen the about 100 posts about your problem already. The topic has been going on for about two years already, so instead of you writing a new topic, you should just read the old one. We have all had the same problem... Like they told you, the only thing you could do, is send them to get repaired... One would think however, that Philips would take them in for you without a cost, incl shipping costs, since they have a built-in-error, and should have been taken off the market. I bought the speakers twice - and returned them twice, and have now bought another option. My first set of speakers also started giving problems after a year, but the second pair only after a week. I wish you good luck! //Tina

Thanks for the response I was actually told that there were no repair centres In Ireland so speaker could not be repaired. I got onto apple which is where I bought the speaker and they are refunding me for the speaker tg! So will be buying a new speaker but not philips!

    Dear benasen,

It takes about 35 seconds for the main unit to boot up. During boot-up, the indicator on the front of the main unit blinks in green quickly.

Have you tried powering off the device for some time and booting up again?

    Kind regards,
    Philips Moderation Team

Yes, I am aware that the device has a 35 second boot up time, although that isn't the case for me. My speaker just continues to flash, for minutes, hours and if I were to leave it on - Days or months. And yes I've tried to turn it off and power it up again more than 23 times now.

    Good morning,

You will need to have the unit serviced I'm afraid.
