Question led indicator of hard keeps on blinking when there is no recording task

Hi all, finally I can start to use the usb recording with my 42pfl7606h (latest firmware). Everything works fine (recording and shifting). However, when there is no recording task, the led of my wd element se portable hard driver keeps on blinking. it seems that the hard driver is busy with reading or writing. is it normal or is there something wrong? Thanks.

today I tried something else. I find that I can only stop the operation/blinking of my hard driver when i firstly go the the TV guide and then go back to the channel. after i did that, my hd stoped reading or writing. however, when I switch to another channel, the hard driver is activated again. i have to repeat the same trick to stop it.

it is interesting to see that the blinking thing doesn't eat up the space of my hard driver. but i do hear that my hard driver is doing something (reading?) when the led indicator is blinking.

is it a bug in the firmware?

    please help.

    something more

the usb hard driver starts to blink when i choose the option of 'watch tv'. if i choose other options(netTV or others), it will stop blinking. It will stop for 2~3 seconds when I switch the TV channels. once TV gave the warning ' usb driver writing error' or something like that when i switch the channel very fast. So, it seems that my TV is writing tothe hard driver although I don't enable the shifting function.

currently, the only way to stop the harddriver is to access the 'TV guide' option and then quit from there directly. but if i switch the channel, i have to repeat the trick.

    it is really annoying.

    Hi,

this is normal. Your TV always records... this is for "time shift"... means, that you can rewind a broadcast up to 90 minutes. Example:
    - you are watching a TV channel for 20 minutes, then you can rewind up to 20 minutes
    - you are watching a TV channel for 120 minutes, then you can rewind up to 90 minutes

thanks Toengel. I was not aware that recording is always running at the background. I thought that it only works when I push the 'pause' button. I am going to check that.

can I disable the auto shifting/recording function?

thanks. I tried. TV is indeed recording automatically at the background. I only can stop it with my trick. my TV probably thinks that i am doing schedule recording so that the time shift must stop. the time shift will be activated again if i change tv channel.
