Post Support of outer HDD >2Tb (GPT marking)

    Hi everybody!

Whether somebody knows, are/will BDP-9xxx support GPT-marked HDD (its are HDD >2Tb at one partition).

My BDP9600 @ firmware 1.63 doesn't read it; official support cannot answer firmly.

    regards,
    Arkady

    Dear Arkady,

    BDP9700 supports GPT partitioned HDD.
Whether HDD >2TB works, it may depends on the power needed - BDP9700 may not have enough power to run the HDD.

    Kind regards,

I will second QK's comment. Confirmed GPT is supported on 9700 with firmware ver 3.85.10. (Note 9600 does not support GPT.)

Partition size is not an issue in GPT. However, bigger disks mean more platters that implies higher power requirement. So may need an external DC power supply to your HDD.

FYI. When GPT partitioned USB Stick/HDD mounted on 9700, you will see two partitions: one ~200MB EFI partition and a second partition where you actually stored your music/video/photos.

    Cheers

    Hello, PMT,

Thanks for your reply. 9700 is well, but I already have 9600

Another point - I have 4Tb USB HDD with 4K sector, marked Basic MBR. BDP9600 doesn't recognize it; in case of 2 x 2Tb partitions, it reads only one of them.

Is there a way to push BDP9600 to read more than 2 Tb, maybe in several partitions?

    BRGDS,
    Arkady
