26HF5443/97 - Stuck in RM-Link, Remote control won't bring up Set Up Menu

    Hi,
I've just purchased a 26HF5443/97 from a hotel. It came with a RC2887 guest remote control which was needed to access the Set-up Menu. However I made an error in the Communication sub menu in the HM-Link section and accidentally 'Stored' this.

The TV then came up with a black screen and I can only use the side channel buttons to go from TV2 to TV3 to TV1, which are just blank or snowy. The TV no longer seems to respond to the remote, so I can't bring up the Set Up Menu anymore.

The side Menu button only brings up the Guest Menu. The green light on the TV flashes when RC buttons are pressed but nothing happens on the screen.

How can I go back to Multi-RC Communication and AV input? Can the TV be factory reset somehow?

Will the RG4172BK or RC 2573 remote control get me out of HM-Link and back to Multi-RC if I can get my hands on one? Or can the guest remote do it with a code? At the moment the guest remote cannot turn the TV off.

    Thanks for any help,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

Because HM-Link is enabled, the TV will forward all system 0 and 3 IR commands via the (most probably) RJ48 to a potential STB (they are not handled locally so that’s why the TV is not reacting to the remote). When nothing is connected (and thus the STB doesn’t return the commands to the TV), the TV will not react to the guest RC anymore and only forward the commands. Only way to get into the setup menu is via the green (RC2573) or the yellow (RC8753) Master remote control (as system 7 codes are not forwarded). Hope this helps.

    Hi Juan,

Thanks for your time and help.

Have been able to tune back through AV2 by plugging in RJ48, selecting a channel via TV, pulling RJ48 cable out again. This renders TV responsive to RC again. So I typed a code on it which brought up some numbers and was then able to press AV button on RC to bring up Source menu and choose AV input. This enabled viewing programs again, but when the TV is turned off it reverts to HM-Link again.

Unless there is a code you could tell me to bring up the Set Up Menu during this process, I'll try and get a Master remote.

    Regards,
    Peter.

    Peter,

There is no code to do that, please try to get hold of a green or yellow Master remote.
