    Netflix sign-in issue with BDP2105

When trying to use the remote to sign in to Netflix I cannot seem to generate a letter. The number buttons only generate numbers, the playback buttons generate text ("FF", "FR", "Stop", etc.) The buttons indicate that they can generate letters, not unlike a telephone keypad, but I cannot get them to display no matter what I try.

Another post in the Smart TV forum mentioned that there is a way to raise a virtual on-screen keyboard on the Netflix sign-in screen. I have combed the manual and have found no mention of how do this. Could someone help? Thanks!

    Hi TransducerX,

You should be able to type in any letter via SMS style entry on the remote control... Try to press one button several times quickly, what heppens then? Press one button and hold it for some time, does it generate any letters? Restart it and try again. It should work without problems. If you still can;t display letters though I'd recommend calling the Technical Support line for your country, they will guide you through or decide that a replacement is needed if neccessary.

    Good luck,
    Cheers,
    WW

If I try this with, say, the "1" key then I receive a series of ones in the Netflix sign-on field, eg. "1111111".

Same results as a above for as long as you hold down the button: "1111111"

Oh, I've restarted the system a dozen times, believe me!

Also, this dawned on me yesterday: I'm going to need to enter special characters ("@", ".") in order to enter an email address in the Netflix sign-on screen. On the face of it the remote doesn't offer these special characters therefore I'm thinking there *has* to be a way to launch and on-screen virtual keyboard. That was this person's fix albeit on a Smart TV: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...t=netflix+sign

    Dear users,

Please be noted that the 'OK' button on the remote control has to be pressed so as to bring up the on-screen keyboard.

Kindly let us know if this works for you.

    Kind regards,

WOW! Thanks for allowing my post to *post* 3 weeks later! (it was being cleared by 'admins') And then offering me advise that I had already clearly sussed out on my own. Yay, Philips! But, you know, shame on me. I asked the question and figured it out. I should have then replied to myself with the results of my own trial and error. So bad on me. But you obviously knew the answer the whole time. What's your excuse?

Fropm what I've noticed this is more a community kind of forum, where users help each other out, with Philips intervening from time to time only. If you need a quick response from them, call the official Philips support from your countrym, they'll sort you out straight away
