Exclamation Give me ONE good reason not to sell or throw my Fidelio AW3000?

So i visited my friend who bought the Libratone wireless speaker.

Price range very different(more expensive), quality of sound, not that very different.

User experience - well it made me think of the title of this post. (They just made integration to the Spotify etc etc. API)

Why on earth shouldn't I just burn my speaker. It makes me frustrated EVERY single morning. Takes ages to load, takes ages to find speakers, can't play simultaneously in spotify on different speakers (as far as I know) apps and playlists not to mention - Horrendous loading and waiting time. I burn my eggs every morning waiting for my speaker to play music from TuneIN or Spotify - for Christ sake-

Why on earth should I keep getting frustrated with this speaker?

So please Phillips - give me ONE good reason NOT to sell (lord forgive me for selling crap) or throw this speaker.

    Peter

hi don, you are clearly very unhappy with your AW. how is your network speed in general with other products. this long waiting can be caused by an overloaded home network...

    Hi,

also check the speed, if you are using a LAN cable to your AW (for testing purposes).

I have an Apple Airport and I have no other devices connected than the speaker and my laptop.

As far as I know this router is the best to find unoccupied frequency. so even if the neighborhood is under a lot of pressure with different wireless units, I have 40/30 D/U on my PC.

We have very good ISP and strong internet connection.

I will do the lan cable test and return.

Still this does not answer my question why Phillips wants to run the software on their speaker. The UI is horrible in spotify. Is it possible in near future that you will make integration to the ones being good at making software, e.g Spotify, TuneIN and so on...?

    Peter

I still really doubt that your speaker is gonna stay in this home. A shame. I love your design and hardware quality - but geee I think the software you put in is poor. And what is hardware worth if it is supported by poor software?

Libratone wireless speaker seems Airplay speaker, so it may not be a good comparison with AW3000, because of different streaming technology. Airplay speaker (Philips also has this range) can stream your content (App) to the speaker quickly. But your iOS devices will be drained battery quite fast.

AW3000 is slower because the content is running inside the speaker, but you can save your iOS device battery life because AW3000 can run internet radio independently.

AW is slower because the content is running inside the speaker... What does that mean and why it would justify a slower search, play, etc.

I just guess, because we can terminate the App after selected an internet radio station but AW still plays. And comparing with iPhone or Android phone, just believe that AW has less processing power, then slower (longer processing time) than Smartphones. On the other hand, Airplay is just direct streaming content likes Bluetooth, it does less processing tasks.

I don't open the speaker to check the chipset, so everything is just from my observation, correct me if I am wrong.

Just out of curiosity: Your timings are a bit subjective, how long does it take for you to launch the app? It would also be interesting to hear from people, who don't think the device is too slow. I did some primitive stopwatch timings:
    - Closed app to home screen of speaker: 12-14s
    - Home screen to Spotify: 8-20s
    - Home screen to TuneIn: 16-22s
    - TuneIn to Presets in TuneIn: 9-14s

I've also noted that performing a search in the Spotify app on my phone is many times faster compared with performing the same search on the speaker (both devices use the same network). The speaker can often take around 10s to deliver search results, while the Spotify app seems to be <1s.

Of cause the timings vary somewhat from launch to launch, but I would be interested in seeing, if others get comparable results or if we are just the two unlucky guys with slow speakers.

I am also about tot trow the towel...... The bad wireless connection, the sound issues that are still not resolved, the lack of speed. I can no longer explain this to my wife! I came from a speedtouch which regretfully is no longer available but works as it should work. Friends have the Sonos system. More expensive but it also works as it should work. To bad that the company of my hometown performs so badly.

    Hi mkk,

Have you tried contacting the Dutch Customer Support Service about this? If you're experiencing so many problems with your device, it may be simplu faulty. I'd advise contacting them and see what they say.

    Good luck!
    Cheers,
    WW

It's not the hardware. All of the issues are software related, that is the annoying bit. Except maybe for the WiFi reception.
