GoGear Ariaz will not play WMV

I'm getting a bit frustrated because the GoGear Ariaz (8GB) doesn't recognize any wmv file.

    If installed the latest firmware.
Converted avi to WMV (9) at 320x240
    FPS 30
    512KBP

But every time i convert a movie, the player says it's an unsupported format.
Also Songbird is unable to play or even transfer the movie.

Who has played mp4/wmv succesfully on this device????
I bought it is a birthday present for my son, but it's pretty use to buy a MP4 which can only play MP3.

    Model SA4ARA08KF/12

    Please help!
    Thanks!!!

    Hi Japser,

That's a bit weird, cause .wmw is a supported format on this device. Have you tried resetting it witha sharp pencil? If that didn;t help, repairing it with Songbird? Remember that all contemt will eb erased as the factory setting will be restored.
    Then try again,
Let me know if this doesn't help and we'll keep on trying

    Cheers,
    WW

Ok, thanks for your reply, I will try these tips.

At this moment I used different convert-tools.
Songbird now transfers .mp4 (and converts it during transfer to wmv) succesfully to the player.
However, the screen stays green during playback (I do have sound though....).

    Keep you posted!

    update:
this sucks..... when trying to repair it with songbird, it states that an error has occured. It also doesn't read the latest firmware, let alone install the latest.

    It won't update/repair the MP4 player....
    Why is this so complicated...

I'm dissapointed in the overall quality (software) and now have the feeling I should have paid the extra bucks for an iPod...

Now converting a new video and see if it works, but I lost faith after struggeling for serveral days

So I gave it all another shot; but no succes.
No screen but do have sound.

The Ariaz is a nice MP3 player, great sound and pretty o.k. speaker for a small player.
It fits nicely in hand and pocket and is pretty easy to use. It feels robust (?)

However; it's an MP4 player and NOT playing video's makes this an expensive MP3 player.
Also Songbird....Is this software developed only by software developers?
I'll bet it does a lot, but is user-unfriendly and a wrong rip-off of iTunes.

In short: I spend 10 days frustrated over the player AND Songbird, that I returend it today.
I spend the extra bucks on an iPod touch 4. (and I'm not a Apple-fanboy.... love Android )
iTunes is also not that great, but better then Songbird. Adding video's; no problem. In converts it to whatever the iPod needs en works great. The build-in speaker is less then the one from Ariaz.
