    "Unknown Genre" in Genre listing

    I have a 4GB GoGear Raga SA4RGA04KF/97 with firmware revision 1.14.

The player came with two MP3 files loaded onto it. Both files have ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags that list the Title, Artist, Album and Genre. One file has genre "Rock" and the other has genre "Pop".

When I try to play the files by genre (I use menu: Music > Genre), the genres are listed as "Rock" and "Unknown Genre". Somehow, the "Pop" genre given in one of the files is not being recognised. Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Hi Andrew,

Have you tried editing the metadata of your files? Change/ enter the right genre there and try again.

    I hoep this helps!

    Hi William

I haven't tried to edit the tags for these two particular files. They came pre-installed on the player. Since Philips put the files there, and the files have valid ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, I expected that the Genre would be recognised correctly. I believe that a genre of "Pop" is a valid genre type.

As a test, I copied several other MP3 files with different genres onto the player. The genres were Country, Reggae, and Latin but these files were also listed as "Unknown Genre". The files played correctly, but the Genre was not recognised.

    Cheers
