MCE remote also controls Philips TV

I have a 40PFL7705DV TV and recently added a HTPC that uses a generic USB MCE IR receiver and remote. The cursor keys for the MCE will also cause the TV to shift channels. There are no options for the MCE to use an alternate code set. Philips support says there is no way to shift the TV to not respond to the MCE.

Has anyone else seen this problem ?? Any suggested workaround ??

    thanks,
    Don M.
