USB connection with MY PASSPORT WD

Please notice the steps with are not in the manual or technical notes:

I am using a WD MY PASSPORT 1T USB 3.0 drive which comes standard NTFS formatted for Windows 8, 7, vista etc.
and my TV (Philips 40PFL5007H LCD TV) did not reconize the USB drive.

When your want to connect an external HD (page 27 manual) please make sure to format it with FAT / 128 KB clusters
This can normally done with a laptop or PC.
After this you can hook it up the USB slot when the TV is ON.
Follow the steps on the screen to format the drive.

Good luck and I would recommend Philips to adjust the manual with this information.

    Hi HvdH,

I'm happy to hear you solved the issue and thank you for posting about it on the forum.

Your TV does support NTFS formatted USB HDDs.

In som cases the TV won't recognise a HDD with a factory format and in these cases a reformatting (via PC) of the HDD is advised (also page 27 of the user manual).

    Best regards,
    Ina
