Issues with MCD909 limiting daily use...

    Hi there,

First of all, I'd like to say that I'm very impressed with the overall quality, and especially sound wise, of this micro-system (MCD909). Two things however have been bothering me for quite some time. the reason I'm only posting now is that I have been waiting for a firmware update, but nothing seems to happen in that direction...

    1. when a USB device is plugged in (e.g. USB stick), the order in which the folder contents are presented seems rather haphazard. When playing MP3's of an album or AVI's of a recorded TV series, this can be extremely annoying, as the original order is not kept (even though the individual file names are like "01-trackname-album", "02-trackname-album", etc.). Does anybody know what the (internal) sort order is? Or even better, does anybody know a solution to this problem?

    2. The amp seems to 'run wild' sometimes: just out of the blue, the volume increases a few notches (never down, by the way). This can lead to rather uncomfortable situations...

So, is a firmware update available that would solve issues like these? Or is there something else I could do to address these quirks? My MCD909 was bought in 2010 and has FW version 1.3.

    Many thanks & kind regards,

    Robenroute

hi robenroute, the only software available is here, but it's from 2009, anyway check what is your version - http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...&slg=en&scy=GB .

about the order in the folder, i read somewhere in this forum that it is actually ordered by the date it was uploaded to the USB disc, which i quite understand can be tricky and not convenient.

Thanks for your response, Vaga. It seems I'm on the latest firmware, so I'll have to learn to live with an obnoxious amp...

Concerning the sort order: what great mind thought of that? Sorting by time stamp? That seems rather unpractical. Especially when playing albums (MP3s). I'm guessing that 90% of all users wouldn't know how to change the files' time stamps in order to sort this problem. Or am I missing something and is Philips offering a sorting/indexing tool to address this issue?

    My goodness...

    Thanks again, Vaga!
