Dear DamianS,

Pros: nice TV (I use it for DVB-T or films AVI or MKV). Nice design.

Drawback: annoying intermittent sound drop issue connected to an external device (in my case the Philips HTS5120 soundbar.....even PS3, home teathers, PS3 for other users) via HDMI or SPDIF.
This flaw makes the TV unusable.

Considering that this issue is known since mid 2010, if you're planning a short term purchase, I'd suggest you to wait until the sound drop issue will be definitively (and not "promised") solved.
or choose simply another TV vendor.

as far as I know the 8605 has a different panel - less mirroring... but i am not sure...

Hello,

well... as far as I know... the panel is the same, but:

8605: with glass front
8505: no glass front (i.e. same as 9705)

This makes the 8505 a little easier to scratch, but it has less reflections and is a bit lighter and thinner.

i have the 8505 modell and in my opinion ist this the same as 8605 but no glass front. First one i buy the 8605 modell but dust problem in glass front. swapped with 8505 modell.
