    BDP9500 End Of Life?

Comon Philips have you really gave up on this player? Last firmware update was in 2010...
Seeing frequent fw updates for 9600 and 9700 is nice, but saddening for a 9500 owner

Will we ever see NTFS support for it and maybe some newer codecs?
Please dont forget about this device and include it in fw upgrade plan.

I have it connected to my 56PFL9954H TV. From time to time while watching movies I get "no video signal" in the middle of playback. Nothing else helps than power on/off the player. It does not matter if Im using disk or solid state media (USB), so recently Im currently using my laptop connected to TV using HDMI instead.

I cannot play 'Dawn of Planet of the Apes'. Reading other threads about the BDP3000, I suspect it is the same. i.e the old firmware cannot cope with the new disks. I wonder if the BDP9600 plays DOPOTA. The 9500 was the 'top of the range' player at the time and now wont play recent titles. This seems unfair given the updates to the 9600 that I suspect will cope- why has the 9500 been left out? I dont expect a reply from Philips and given it looks like I will need to replace the 9500 - Philips is not going to be at the top of my list. I was looking at Philips vs Oppo at the time -looks like I made the wrong choice.

I too think that Philips have to start offering better service on their products. I've been owning the BDP9700 since it was launched and still there are annoying bugs to be fixed.
Like the "purple screen issue", which has been solved once, but somehow has reapered again on later softwar releases. Now it seems like we have to convince Philips to fix this problem. Read the bug tracker tread and see for yourself. I just hope that the same people experiencing the purple screen bother to speak up again so Philips will begin to iron out this bug.

Further the BDP9700 has never been able to display album art on musical streaming. All my other players/streaming devices display the same covers just fine.

I bought this player because of the very nice looks and the name of an opera caught my attention. Fidelio all the way for me.

    HI,

Further the BDP9700 has never been able to display album art on musical streaming.
this depends on the DLNA server... I tried Plex and Twonky - one is working, one not...

Toengel: thank you for sharing. I think that my Synology NAS, which we can argue is a standard equipment more or less for streaming should also work out of the box?
My other devices including tablets and Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4, TVs and other streaming devices working just fine...
Do you, or somebody else, know how to get the Synology NAS to work with graphics and BDP9700?
