Call again for service, this is a lcd panel issue (hardware and software, only on 37", depending on serial number), they will fix the problem, mine it is ok now, after service.

Just had the split screen problem again on the 37pfl8605h/12 with the new firmware 000.140.034.000.

I filmed the problem. It occurs on every device that is connected through my Onkyo TX SR606. I also had the problem without the receiver. On the video, the problem occured when watching a movie on Philips BDP3100/12



I already contacted Philips 3 weeks ago, but still no one contacted me back...

Edit: I have an external tv decoder, so everything is connected through hdmi. I cannot check the internal decoder... But on another thread, someone has the same problem with internal dvb-c decoder (Strange image problems)

Dear Ans.fabbri, if you need an explanation to understand the sound drop isse, you're not affected by this problem. Don't be afraid.

100% guaranteed...otherwise you'll complain immediately to Philips 2 seconds of "no sound" every x minutes (several times per hour).

The audio drop issue happens if the TV receives an audio stream (typically Dolby Digital) from any source (DVB-T/DVB-C channel, HDMI input) and passes it through an external device, either through SPDIF or HDMI ARC.

So, it happens if you have an external audio device that plays the sound connected (an amplifier or a sound bar).
When sound drops occur thy occur only on the connected device, the TV speakers do not exhibit sound drops.

I have never observed a problem when watching anything and the sound comes from the TV speakers. The problem exists in how the TV routes sound in HDMI/ARC-SPDIF.

Yes, they all have the problem. If you connect your amplifier to the SPDIF at the back of the TV (as I have done also), you will:

a) Get synchronised sound from the TV (which means that the delay at the amplifier must be 0 ms)
b) You will get sound drops on some DD material (my player is connected at HDMI 1)
c) DTS will be lost, the TV does not support DTS passthrough at all

Yes, I know that some users have observed sound drops from TV speakers also, but I have never observed them in my 9705. I think that these relate to 7000 series model.

In your case, the decoder is connected to the aerial/cable input of the TV, which means that the TV receives either analog or DVB-T RF signal. So, your sound drops relate to channel decoding, and you must make sure that the drops are not caused by the decoder.
What TV model do you have?

32pfl9705k/02 using only internal speakers!
abcom ipbox 9000 hd+ on hdmi1
philips bdp 3000 on hdmi2
(changing the hdmi ports makes no difference)

sounddrops everytime after channel changing on my external digital satellite receiver.
with 140.32 and lower soundrops with my bdp3000 while watching bluray (haven't test it yet on 140.34).

same external hardware via hdmi on my 32pfl7403d and there are no sounddrops!

So, you have sound drops on TV speakers when you are watching from external devices, connected with HDMI?

My TV is a 32PFL9705/H12. My cable provider 'Ziggo"certified my decoder to work with this TV. And the Philips SW mentiones it in version Q5551_1.75.60.1

Hey Petatsis, when I look in the Apps overview, Greece has 15 Services (and now 14), where do you get the "5-6" number? DailyMotion service was probably not good enough, so Philips decided to stop until they get their stuff right. Seems to me a wise decision...

I have a 40PFL8605H/12. I'm on my second one, the first had sound drops even with the 140.32 software update. Was very annoying. I got it replaced with a second one and this TV also has the same issue I have the 140.34 software update but still not fixed.

Both TV's were 1035 (so 2010 week 35). I have 3 connections, all HDMI,
1. UPC HD cable box (a cisco box) directly connected by hdmi with sound though the TV speakers
2. Xbox360, HDMI, sound through the TV speakers
3. Mac Mini, DVI to HDMI, sound through an optical connection to seperate speakers.

The sound drops range from half a second to 3 seconds.
The issue is hard to recreate, can happen 2 minutes after turning the TV on or after 4 hours.
Can have 10-20 sound drops in 5 minutes then none for a while.
No particular channel causes it.
HDMI slot has been changed (from 1 to 2 and on to 3) but no change/fix.

UPC box has been connected to my Sony 32V2000 in the same configuration for 10 months previously and have had no issue so its the TV not the UPC box.
No issue seen while using the Xbox (but only played max 3-4 hours on both TVs together and only in short sessions).

One other issue not related to this update is that the inside of the glass front panel is "smeared" with something and I can see 2 circular marks from where the glass plate looks like it was lifted with plungers.

Luckily the shop I'm dealing with are superb on customer service so hopefully I'll get it sorted soon.
