    Htb5540

    Hi,

I have recently purchased Philips HTB5540 Home Theatre. I am generally happy with the product performance but I have a couple of issues / questions:

    1. Would it be possible to add to the future firmware the ability to display current sound format and number of channels (DTS, DD, stereo, ...) on the LCD (or maybe the Android app?); I have the TV connected through HDMI ARC and viewing external HDMI source - although I can usually hear that multichannel is working it would be nice to have it displayed somewhere. On a related note, I was looking through the manual to see if Dobly Pro-Logic II can be used for stereo sources but it is not mentioned anywhere! I figured Pro-Logic decoding can be enabled through the Audio-Surround option but then again it would be nice to see the confirmation on the LCD...

    2. Sometimes when browsing through a SMB share, I get "server disconnected". This happens more frequently when I go down some 5 levels (browsing 5 folders deep). I have the system connected through WIFI, but other devices do not have any connectivity problems. Also the listing is not sorted so it is sometimes very hard to find out the item you are looking for.

    Thanks.

Yes, DTS works multichannel for me when playing from USB directly. When using HDMI (with an external USB player) the sound does not work using HDMI ARC (probably the TV does not support DTS passthrough as AC3 usually works), but again it works with the optical connection.
