What TV and connection do you have ? ( DVI or HDMI )

    What you can try is
    1. to test with another TV,
    2. with another cable, make sure you dont have any switches or other devices in between.

When loading a file ( ex a mkv file) There is a statusbar to upper right corner showing % and the dots in the lower middle of the screen flashing showing something is in progress. I guess you want something more ?

i just made a reset of BDP..i will check if purple pic problem persist. My set is BDP 9700 => onkyo 5009 => TV LG... in HDMI..with good quality connection.

i checked now another problem with Bitstream of Dolby True HD signal...( no problem with Dolby, DTS or DTS hd MA). Totall Recal movie out with no audio...if i set audio in auto mode...audio work in multich. After i stop movie..all other file also mkv ( in any other audio format ) exit with no audio. Repeat only with Dolby True HD. I think this BDp is a good machine but have a lot of bug and need a tons of fix...i hope they will solve most of them in rasonable time.

    Hi,

why don't you connect your BDP in this way:

    BDP-Main => TV
    BDP-AVR => Onkyo

You have 2 HDMI-Out - one for TV and one for audio only...

so i tested all afternoon...if i use only HDMI 1...with 3.92 i can get audio only in pcm..so with audio set in "auto". No audio in bitstream mode. when i gonna to active Hdmi 1 + AVR....finally i get audio in bitstream from HDMI 2.

    1) HDMI 1 Video ok - Audio "Auto" ok pcm - No audio "Bitstream" with 3.92...with 3.85 worked before update.
    2) HDMI 1 + AVR all work in Bitstream.

i prefer use just one HDMI because i use BDP on TV and on VPR from onkyo 5009.

    Hello Marcus,
    I am currently using a BDP 9600.
Will the (V3.92) update also work on this one?

Please confirm that the 9700 now plays SACDs on either HDMI 1 via the AVR in surround mode and on 7/1 analogue audio.
In that case I might consider to get one once more.

There is an Audio DVD out for testing which is interesting because it plays 6 channel audio at 96kHz with 24 bit encoding. (MDG 906 1069-5, 96kHz/24 Bit; title: “Breakthrough … into a new Dimension") It is available at Amazon ("used" for small coins). I have a 1300 EUR BDP which cannot handle this input, neither on HDMI nor on 7/1 analogue. The sound just breaks up completely. I wonder whether the 9700 can handle it. My 9600 just automatically uses the 48kHz LPCM, so I assume it cannot cope with the Meridian Lossless Packing MLP.
I hope you are curious enough to try it out!
Remember: Curiosity is the source of all science ;-))

    Regards, infox

    Hi,

I would not advise you to try updating your BDP9600 with BDP9700s software version 3.92.

However the SACD issue and playback with analogue output: This issue is still under investigation and we can unfortunately not promise a date when the software is to be delivered. We are working on the issue and I’m sorry about the lengthy wait in regards to this issue. When I know more you will be the first to know!

    Kind Regards,

    Marcus

Nothing really more to add, but I just want to make sure that some improvement suggestions won't get lost:
    • Increase overall responsiveness to user interactions via remote or when pushing the device buttons. Especially pressing the EJECT button is a mess. One need to push it twice until the device opens.
    • Make the player usable without TV attached (for CD/SACD).
When skipping tracks, display current selected track and number of overall tracks - showing "PLAY" or "BROWSER" this is not useful
    • The screen displayed during playback of SACD, CDDA, USB and DNLA should contain information what kind of decoding/Bitrate is active. (Similar to Marantz and Sony s590) Examples:

      SACD will show: DSD
      CDDA will show: 1.4kbps
      Streaming sources might show: 1.4-9.2kbps
    • Improve the buggy SMART TV implementation. Using one of the apps there often enough lead to a unusable state of the device.

    Regards,
    Gerhard

well, i'm glad to see the forum back!!

i try to rewrite my last post that is gone.

    so, my configuration is
    firmare 3.92
hdmi main connected to tv with audio off
L and R from 7.1 connected to analog stereo ampli
other 7.1 (so 6 channel) turned off from menu
multich audio of bluray downmixed to stereo from menu

using tron:legacy both 3d and 2d disk with dts ma there are some points with no audio at all, using bolby digital there is no problem

    -----------

then marcus, have you now any info if a newer version of firmware is coming and approximatly when?

    thankyou

Hi, may i know what disc you were playing?
The disc you played support DTS MA & Dolby Digital?

Is it like some sound drop?

    Autoplay on/off

Everytime I start my player bdp 9700 it starts playing the disc inside. No matter what I used the player for before putting it into stndby and switch the power off ( pulling the cord)
Yes I have a switch system for the powercords at home, I cant have all the amps turned on and everything in stndby
group 1: always on for charging, ex remotes, keyboards, mouses etc.
    group 2: tv+DVD,
group 3: Stereo = 2channel amps, DA converter, Turntable, squeezebox etc.
group 4: Surroundprocessors and amps, projector, sub etc

Ex during the day my kid watched Monsters inc on BD.
Later on the night when he's asleep I want to watch a movie with Smart-tv.
I switch on power for "tv and dvd group" The Monsters Inc all of sudden starts to play and the TV is set to kinda high volume :-)

I want an option in the menu, Autoplay ON/OFF

    To reporoduce.
1 play a disc ( cd, sacd, dvd bluray)
    2 push stop with remote.
3 stndby and pull the cord
4 turn back on and the discs starts playing without you ever pushed play.

    Hi,

this is a "feature" since... hmm... EVER...

I don't know, how often people are asking for an option to disable that... but nobody listen to that request...
