    Question Sound problem BDP7700

    A view days ago I got new Blu-Ray player (BDP7700)
    Right away I noticed that the sound is only in stereo over HDMI.

    My TV (Philips PFL6007) is connect to my sound system using it's optical out.
    Other devices like my xBox 360 are 5.1 when it needs to be.

    But not this player, all contend (DVD, Blu-ray and network media) is stereo.
    While the same network content plays as 5.1 played right on my tv.

    Only when I move the optical cable from the TV directly to the Blu-Ray player it plays 5.1.

    I did play with some settings (mostly on the player but also on the TV) but can't find something that fix this.

    Do to that the xBox is playing 5.1 I don't think it's the TV.

    I hope someone has some tips to try before I probably buy a extra optical cable.

    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi, if I understand you correctly you having issue with sound and your Blu-ray player? I would advise you to connect a optical cable from the BDP to the sound system. As there is sometimes compatibility issue when several HDMI-devices are connected. Have you tried remove the Xbox while using your BDP?

    Hi, I already tried to connect the optical cable from BDP to the sound system, and then is't 5.1
    Only when I let the TV send the audio it get's from the BDP by HDMI it will be 2.1
    The sound system still says "Decode"

    Removing the xBox did nothing sadly.

    I also tried a other HDMI cable (just to be sure) but still the same.

    I hope someone has a other option to try or that it will be fixed in a update soon.

    Dear RcktBOY,

    Would you please try changing HDMI AUDIO setting to “PCM” to test this out?

    With thanks & regards,

    Hi QK,

    I don't have the "PCM" option to choose, I can choose "Bitstream" or "Auto"

    But after disabling the "nightmodus" some of the network media and all Disks I tried did work.
    Still most of the network media is still 2.1 sound when using HDMI.

    Here are my current sound settings, maybe I should change something?

    Nightmodus = OFF
    Neo 6 = Cinema
    HDMI-audio = Bitstream
    Digital Audio = Auto (here I do have the PCM option)
    PCM-downsampling = ON
    Channels = 2 and 5.1

    I also like to add that the test tone is not working...
    I don't get anything, also when I use the optical connection.

    I hope you have some other tips that I can try.

    Regards,
