    Unhappy BDP2185 Freezing

    Hello,

I have a BDP2185 that is freezing up constantly since the last update. If you press the home button it will freeze. At the end of movies on disc it will freeze while trying to go back to home menu. If you watch video files via USB the player stops responding to any commands and freezes if you press any button. All of these freezes will require 1 and sometimes 2 hard resets to get the player to play a movie/file again. I have tried multiple times to try to re-upgrade the software via USB with the most current version available but it will never complete. As of now the upgrade is "ongoing" and has been so for over 2 hours.

Here is the information listed in the version information screen:

    Model: BDP2185/F7
    Software Version: (this was blank)
    System SW: 2.12
    Ethernet: 00:1C:50:7E:66:55
    Wireless (Wi-Fi): 00:1C:50:0D:30:F7

    Update:

I am very persistent with things like this so I finally power cycled the player after the above upgrade was processing for about 3 hours total. After two more tries at upgrading it finally upgraded properly. There was a purple progress bar that moved across the screen that never appeared on previous attempts. After flashing from USB the player now works perfectly and never freezes etc when using the home button or any other action... as of now.

Something in the automatic update via internet did not work properly.

Hi, welcome to the forum! Sorry to ask but, are you sure about the software version; 2.12? I had a quick look at Philips website (se link) and the latest version seems to be 2.10… It seems like something might have happened during the installation process of software. If version still is 2.12, I would advise you to contact Philips Consumer care in your country.

It absolutely does say 2.12, both before I successfully updated the firmware via USB and afterward.
