    42PFL7676 HTPC sound issues

    Hello,

I have a problem with connecting my Philips 42PFL7676 to my HTPC. Videowise everything works just fine. Audiowise not so. My HTPC is based on a sandy bridge i3 with a H67 chipset. The tv is connected with the HTPC by HDMI (HDMI2). The TV is connected with ARC to my receiver. When looking at the sound device output I find that the tv is only capable of doing a stereo signal rather than 5.1. I can't select any 5.1 configurations. Is the philips tv capable of receiving 5.1 signals from my HTPC? Or is this an intel driver issue? Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Hi Madlive,

You say "When looking at the sound device output I find that the tv is only capable of doing a stereo signal rather than 5.1." what do you mean? Is the option for Surround greyed out in the TV menu or on the HTPC/receiver?

The Surround option in the TV Sound menu will only apply to the TV speakers as this is the option for Incredible Surround - the TV is able to transform stereo sound to Incredible Surround via the TV speakers only.

Also, please clarify, by receiver do you mean an amplifier or a set top box?

If it is an amplifier, does it have HDMI In options? If yes, have you tried to connect your HTPC to the amplifier instead?

    Best regards,
    Ina
