Hi,

Often, nobody is watching the tv. It runs for nothing.

1)run a watchdog timer reseted by any remote control activity
2)issue a banner informing user : going to sleep soon, press a remote key
3)repeat three times step 2 at 5 min interval
4)turn off video
5)slowly lower sound level to 0
6)full turn off

This way I wont awake abruptly with tv shut off ;-)
Options to tune this feature :
-on/off functionnality
-watchdog timer step 1
-step 5 duration

One more thing, do not put a patent on this basic idea. I release "smooth turn off" to the public domain.
