    Thumbs up Technical feedback - FW 150.95 - for 6/7/8/9000 Series - 2012

    Hi,

The new FW will be live soon.
Due to our global IT structure, there might be a delay in the uploading to our support websites.

    For details please see here:
    http://philips.to/1sfmASs

This thread is for technical feedback only. For other discussions please post in the related discussion thread. "Off topic" posts regarding the firmware will be moved to the discussion thread.

    Important:
After upgrading your TV, it is necessary to perform a "cold start". This means that, after the TV is running again (after the update), shut down the TV, wait 1 minute (till all components are shut down), and unplug the TV from the mains (pull power cord) for 2 minutes before starting again.

Please use the following template in this thread:

    Previous Firmware: 150.92

    Positive:

    Nothing positive

    Negative:
    - Still, When going 3D with GameMode On, it automatically disabled and makes GameMode Off. Going back to 2D you can see the high input-lag and that the grey quality on the image is better than game mode. happens with 150.90,91,92,95.
    - Still very high input-lag on 2D and 3D
    - Still random 90% of the times ghosting Double Image in 3D mode expect 2D to 3D convert which is clear.
    - PNM still has stuttering when trying to use in 3D movies and gaming. there are freezes, slowdowns and delays. Jerky HD Natural Motion, with alot artifacts

    ============================

Nothing I wanted to be fixed since 2013-12-12 got fixed... Those bugs makes the firmware or Tv in 3D unuseable because u can't play games in 3D with 300-500 ms input-lag. and everytime u try to GameMode ON and go back to 3D it disabled automatically. the 3D issue doesn't happen with 150.89 and I remember not with any other firmware before it too.

    TV Model: 42PFL6907T
    Previous Firmware: 150.92

    Positive:
(no positive changes in my usage scenario)

    Negative:
    - Color gradient flaw in the "Computer" mode (same happens in "Game" mode, too)
    - Jerky HD Natural Motion, with artifacts
    - Slow user interface
    - Program guide has the titles in Swedish in YLE channels, even when in Finland (TV bought from Finland)
    - Input lag is always high when 3D is enabled, even in Game and Computer modes
    ============================

    Additional details:
    1) The color gradient error can be seen in
    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php and http://www.vanity.dk/tft/monitorTest_scale.html

    2) I can live with the minor HDNM artifacts, but the jerkiness ruins the deal

    3) At this point, I don't even care about the slow user interface, I've long since given up the notion of this being a "Smart TV". Before this, just do something about the first two...

    4) I don't actually give a rats' ass about the YLE channels, either. First focus on the gradient and the HDNM...

    5) For Passive 3D with a computer, this isn't as big of a problem as with Active 3D, as I can use the TriDef3D with Passive 3D to bypass the TV (in most cases). But the high input lag still makes the "Dual Play" -feature practically useless.

The negatives are by no means introduced by the recent firmware, they have been there since the initial release, for all I can tell.

    ---------------------------------------

    Earlier discussion of these matters:

    Color gradient:
    http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...4332#post64332
    http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...8289#post68289

HDNM: (It's not like anyone could have missed that, not gonna search for links...)

Slow interface: (Again, it's not like anyone could have missed that, not gonna search for links...)

    Program guide / YLE:
    http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...7408#post67408

    High input lag in 3D:
There's been some prior talk of high input lag with Active 3D, as with those sets, there isn't an option that could bypass the TV's 3D circuitry. This is possibly the first time it's been mentioned with Passive 3D. Thus far, I've been content, as with the Passive 3D I've been able bypass the TV's 3D circuitry with computer by using the TriDef3D (by constructing the 3D image already in the computer, so the TV doesn't actually even know it's displaying a 3D image). But this work-around doesn't work for consoles. Also, the Two-Player Gaming feature, a.k.a. "Dual Play", is practically useless, because there's no way to avoid the TV's 3D mode and its high input lag, not even with a computer. Previously I assumed this would have been a problem only on Active 3D models, but this flaw actually affects Passive 3D as well, while not necessarily to the same extent.

    -------------------------------------------

    Additional feature requests:
When not in a menu, the Yellow shortcut button currently doesn't do anything. It would be quite nice if the yellow button was a shortcut to Computer/Game mode. Earlier discussion here: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...9857#post69857

This should also come AFTER the first two.

    Negative:
    - Subtitles do not show from a transport stream that may come either via DLNA or USB stick. Try this example http://77.238.79.246/history.channel.ts This is a 38 seconds extract from History Channel that contains a subtitle PID in Bulgarian language (cyrillic letters). Subtitles are proven to show on VLC Media Player but they do not show on television when the stream is played.

    Positive:
+ Sad but true, since 1.5 years there is nothing to mention here...

    Negative:
    - DoS while updating channel list after my provider released new channels. I have started the channel update via menu manually. In 'Step 2' the process stopped, I was left with the colorful background and the sound of my last channel. The remote could not exit the screen nor change the channel. All that was possible was changing the volume and enter the TV menu again. Solution: I had to re-install all channels, 'Step 2' worked like a charm. BUT, annoyingly I have lost all my favorites settings.
    - I'm still missing an option to switch-off all the fancy blurry and see-through stuff. Your graphic design looks quite nice, but your device does not have the performance for it! I have to think back for quite a while to remember when I had such a slow, non-responsive system.
    - You still do not provide a hash for verification of the firmware on your drivers download page. This is 101 of software distribution and should be fixed immediately
    - The technical note in the drivers download page does not include the lasted update. Again, this si 101 of software distribution and should be fixed immediately
