    Arrow Technical feedback - FW 150.98 - for 6/7/8/9000 Series - 2012

    Hi all.

The new software will be live soon.
Due to our global IT structure, there might be a delay in the uploading to our support websites.

This thread is for technical feedback only. For other discussions please post in the related discussion thread. "Off topic" posts regarding the firmware will be moved to the discussion thread.

    For details please see here:
    http://philips.to/1yp5VlR

    Important:
After upgrading your TV, it is necessary to perform a "cold start". This means that, after the TV is running again (after the update), shut down the TV, wait 1 minute (till all components are shut down), and unplug the TV from the mains (pull power cord) for 2 minutes before starting again.

Please use the following template in this thread:

    TV Model: 42PFL6907T
    Previous Firmware: 150.97

    Positive:
    + <none that I can see>

    Negative:
    - Color gradient flaw in the "Computer" mode (same happens in "Game" mode, too)
    - HDNM producing artifacts and jerky movement (especially with computer signal)
    - User interface is slow
    - Program guide has the program titles of Finland's YLE channels in Swedish, even when in Finland (TV bought from Finland)
    - Input lag is always high when 3D is enabled, even in Game and Computer modes
    - Dual Play -feature shows only half of the picture

    Feature request:
    - Make the un-used yellow shortcut button into a shortcut for Computer/Game mode

    ============================

    Additional details:

The negatives are by no means introduced by the recent firmware, they have been there since the initial release, for all I can tell (except for the Dual Play bug, which was introduced in 150.97). These same flaws have been brought forward multiple times, check previous Technical feedback for more thorough details: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...ll=1#post75155.

But here are two links to more detailed posts with regards to the color gradient bug, which I personally consider as the biggest inconvenience:

Still have problems with channel logo's.
Alhough I have the lastest firmware 150.098 and did several new channel searches/installations the main three public channels in the Netherlands (NPO 1, 2 and 3) show standard logo's.
Untill now unable to fix this.

    Previous Firmware: 150.97

    Positive:
    + <none that I can see>

    Negative:
    - Sound stutters/skips every 3-15 minutes for just under a second when watching DVB-C channels with audio out via HDMI ARC through an amplifier

    ============================

    Additional details:

The negatives are introduced in FW 150.97. I have now downgraded to 150.92 again, and the problemes are gone. I would like to downgrade to 150.95, but I can't find that FW-version anywhere on the internet.

I am from Denmark, and my Cable Provider is Stofa. Another member is experiencing the same problems, and his cable provider is YouSee.

    He wrote:
I have the same TV and can confirm the dropouts in sound, but only via HDMI.
I too live in Denmark, and my Cable Provider is YouSee.
I believe the sound dropouts started with the FW update, but it could be the Cable Provider and coindicental, although I dont think so.
Also, I never had this problem with 150.95.0, only with 150.97.0.

I timed the dropouts the other night, to see if there were any pattern. But the time between the dropouts are very random between 2 minutes and 15 minutes plus.

    TV Model: 47PFL6007
    Previous Firmware: 150.97
    Carrier: CI+ UPC Romania

    Positive:
-image fits better in the screen for some programs. You can see the information in the scrolling bar at the bottom of the screen on news channels

    Negative:
    - 3D side by side inverted not working. You can verify this by selecting this option while viewing a normal 3D movie and observe that there is no change, you can still see the image correctly. The only option to watch a 3D inverted movies is to wear the glasses upside down.
    - the carrier does not update their channel list daily. But this TV insists that there are new programs. Which in fact are old programs. And if you make a favourite list it gets messed up because it deletes the old program for the list and marks it as a new program and you have to redo the favorite list almost daily! StupidTV...
    - response to remote control is slow when watching CI+ programs, for coaxial cable programs it's a little better. Some programs show "scrambled" or "not available" but on other TVs they are working fine.
    - in long panning scenes (camera moves to one side for a 360 view or from bottom to top) there is image judder/stutter probably based on lack of processing power and/or memory for all the frames to fit, because all the pixels from the image have to be processed and not only moving bits from a still picture
    - still unable to watch my "Cosmos" from Carl Sagan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS-Ts...ature=youtu.be
    - external HDD (WD MyBook) is on all night scanning something!!! (maybe philips needs my personal data) Even though the TV is off the whole night!!! I have to manually turn off the HDD drive!!! VERY SMART AND ENERGY SAVING!!! I am thinking of buying a programable outlet to keep the tv off at night...
    - WIFI Smart Screen not working on JellyBean(4.1.2) Android phone. I can control the TV, change channels and so on, but I cannot watch TV on my phone. There is no "WIFI Smart Screen" available to select in the app. In the manual it doesn't say that this functionality is only for apple products...

    TV Model: 47PFL6907T
    Previous Firmware: 150.97

    - "Crooked" algorithm deinterlacing video in the standard 50i, leading to the appearance of strobes, flickering moving objects, the effect of "comb" when viewed as essential channels and the built-in player, visually like looking in the standard 24 / 25p.
    * - When enabled, NaturalMotion observed failures, jerks when viewing video files built-in player. In general, the function NaturalMotion worse than earlier firmware.
    * - Clear LCD function always works, regardless of its state of the settings in the menu (if NaturalMotion set to the "MIN").
    * - Clear LCD function does not work, regardless of its condition settings menu (if NaturalMotion set to "Off"). And did not work at least with the 133 firmware.
    * - Image detail is somewhat worse than in the early firmware, such as 133.5.
    * - There is no difference visible to the eye between the provisions of "MIN", "Norm" and "MAX" function NaturalMotion.
    * - Do not work correctly function "AutoFormat" compresses the image vertically with the appearance of advertising. In this case, does not return to its original state at the end of it.
    * - When the clock setting to "AUTO" / "Depends on the country" after connecting to the internet while in the "INFO" becomes invalid, increasing by 1 hour.
    * - When you set the clock in "MANUAL" time displays correctly, but in the Guide Gear with the start and end of transmission is changed to 1:00 and does not work correctly scale the remaining transmission time.
    * - When you set the clock in "MANUAL" after turning off the TV on the back or blackout from the power supply, the clock setting is changed to "AUTO".
    * - On-air channels when you press the "INFO" not always displays information about the current program. A guide with information about the current program is available.
    * - In the source list when selecting Menu-Sources latter source is called YPbPr, and should be VGA.
    * - When auto tuning is not all analog channels and a general in a strange manner, and not as they are in the frequency grid.
    * - After rebooting TV, if you go to the point color balance settings the user, the first 3 sliders set to maximum, after a change of at least one slider on the scale start to show other values.
    * - When changing channels does not show the scale of the current transmission time (orange).

    Negative:
    - shows always anagloue teletext subtitle page, channel called "één", Telenet cable (flanders). I think the problem persisted after hitting "888" teletext page. The television informs the user the subtitle page has been saved (or similar). Page 888 is usually the teletext page for the deaf. But after that, it still shows the page even when subtitles are set to "off". Even changing from "automatic" to "off" doesn't help. A factory reset doesn't help. Television is 42PFL6687H/12, using 150.98.0 firmware.

    - I've a found an odd problem regarding regular analogue teletext. I'm not talking about hbbtv, which I can't use. I'm talking about old plain fashioned teletext, using plain analog television via regular cable. No CI+ card or setup box. I use telenet as provider in the Flemish region of Belgium, if that's relevant. I don't have access to unencrypted digital channels, so I can't test that. It doesn't matter which analog channel, they all display the same problem.

While using the 'next' teletext page or manually punch in a page (e.g. '165'), it searches the page and retrieves the page if it exists. When the page is found, the page is showed. But after 5 seconds or so waiting the message appears "pagina niet beschikbaar", in English it means "page not available". This is bizar because the television correctly retrived the page but after 5 seconds it claims it didn't find it. This message lasts about a second or so and it's gone after that.

Yeah, there is something seriously wrong with the YCbCr reception in the "Game" and "Computer" modes, and it has been there from the beginning ..until now. You have had this issue for more than 2 years and never done anything about it Philips.

    Hi everyone,

Regarding the reported issue of grainy pitcures in computer/game mode.

A possible fix is to adjust the adjust screen and edges. This can be done by pressing House > Setup > TV Settings > Picture > Format and Edges > Picture shift, and then adjust screen and picture edges.

Please let me know if this takes care of the issue or change it somehow.

Edit: New SW is out, please update TV to latest version and post in this new thread if you are still experiencing issues. http://philips.to/1uAr2A5

    Best regards,
    Johann
