    46PFL8008K/12 Netflix Crash

    Hi all

I have a problem with my philips smart tv (46PFL8008K/12) when using netflix.
When i start a movie, using the netflix app in the smart tv menu the movie will start playing, however after a few minutes the movie freezes, the audio continues for a few seconds and then the screen turns black and the tv restarts itself.

I'm not sure if this is a TV issue or a smart TV issue, so i have posted this message in both forums.
I have loaded the newest Firmware for my TV v000.171.056.000 on it, however this did not resolve the issue.

Does anybody else have this issue or does somebody knows what causing this?

    Kind regards
    Paul

    Hi PaulvdMee,

Is this a consistent issue or periodic?

Do you have any issues with other streaming apps, such as YouTube?

Do you use a Wifi or a cabled connection? If Wifi, please test with a cabled connection.

    Best regards,
    Ina

Hi Ina, thanks for your reply.
    On your question:
Q: Is this a consistent issue or periodic?
A: Constant issue with only the Netflix app. After a few minutes the images freezes and a few seconds later the tv goes into a restart

Q: Do you have any issues with other streaming apps, such as YouTube?
A: I have not seen crashes with the youtube app

Q: Do you use a Wifi or a cabled connection? If Wifi, please test with a cabled connection.
A: I have tried both connection types, both via Wifi and Cable and both are giving me the same issue.

If you have any other advice please let me know.

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Please try to clear the internet memory:

HOME > [Setup] > [Network settings] > [Clear Internet memory] > OK

Then try to reconnect to your network and setup SmartTV and Netflix anew.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi,

I've got the same problem with my 46PFL8008K/12. The tv reboots after about 5 minutes of playing a Netflix video. This is a consistent problem.
I tried to reset to factory defaults, redo the installation procedure and erase the internet content.
    This does not help!
The tv also crashes when I stream a Netflix video from the Netflix app on my iPhone.

    @Paul
Did you manage to solve this problem?

    Cheers,
    Rob

    Hi Ina,
I tried your tip, but unfortunately it did not help, the tv software crashes still after playing a few minutes with the NetFlix App. I also did a complete factory reset of the TV.
Should I contact the philips TV support for this issue or is the app owned by Netflix itself?

    /Paul

    Hi Toengel,

Thanks for pointing out that a new firmware is available. Although the (short) changelog does not indicate any changes to the netflix app it does seem to stabalize the situation and my netflix was working for more that 40 minutes already (never had that untill now!!).
I will try it a bit longer the coming weeks and inform this thread if it is really resolved by the new firmware.

    Hi Rob
On my TV the issue seemed to be resolved when I updated the firmware to the latest one (173.042) which has been released end of november. I have now been able to watch a few episodes of Breaking Bad via the Netflix app

    Kind Regards
    Paul
