    Miracast 42PFL5038H with Windows 8.1

    Hi,

I am trying to project the screen of my laptop under Windows 8.1 to my 42PFL5038H TV. I have successfully added the Philips TV to the list of Play devices by following those steps:
    1. In the TV Network Parameters. Activate Miracast.
    2. In Windows Control Panel for Devices, "Add a device", then select "PHILIPS TV / Television". Then "Next"
    3. Enter the pairing number display in the TV screen in Windows
    4. A 2 steps progress bar is displayed on the TV then the screen becomes blank and displays "Channel not installed". On Windows, a TV icon is added to the list of devices and a progress bar is displayed. At the end of the progress bar, the TV icon is grayed out.
    5. Then I tried, in vain, to clone the screen on the TV by doing: Devices > Project > Clone

    Thanks for your help

    Hi francois.mora,

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do with Miracast. It looks to me that you are trying to use your PC as a media server with the above description.

To use the PC as a media server, please ensure the TV is also connected to the same network as the PC before attempting the above.

    Best regards,
    Ina

You're wrong. You don't understand because you don't know Windows 8.1 .... The difference between francois.mora and my post (http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...2508#post62508) is he can found TV on Windows Control Panel and get Pairing Number.
I think Philips should be update our TV for compatibility Windows 8.1...

    Hi,

I am trying to project the screen of my Windows 8.1 laptop to the TV. From what I have understood, to be able to do that, you have first to register the Philips TV as a "Device" in Windows.

When I click on the "Add device" button, Windows scans for any available devices. Then it shows the Philips TV. Then, when selected, the Philips TV reacts and shows a pairing number. So I assume there is no connection problem between the two.

The problem seems to occur when the TV shows the message "Channel not installed".

    Regards
    François

    Hi,

    try he following:

    - press Win+R and start dxdiag
    - search for Miracast

There should be written, if Miracast is fully enabled.

Thanks for the advice. Indeed, Miracast is flagged as NOT_SUPPORTED. So it seems to be a problem with my display drivers. I have a nVidia M310 Optimus with intel HD chip. I need to dig a little bit to see if that's compatible with Miracast.
