Subtitle font size on external USB (and .ass/.ssa support)

There are several threads already where people have asked about changing the font size when playing a movie with .srt subtitles, because they are simply too small on certain devices. There is still no solution for this. Why not? How hard can it be to implement a function in the firmware to increase the font size 1.5x or 2x? Avi files can easily get .srt subtitles embedded into them (in which case the subtitle size is perfectly readable), but the days of .avi files are dwindling, and .mp4 files are number one now. Embedding .srt subtitles into .mp4 files requires re-encoding the entire file, which can take an hour or more, so this is not as practical as with .avi files.

So, again, how hard can it be to implement a function to increase the font size?

I've also tried .ass/.ssa subtitle formats, which unlike .srt allow to increase the font size (and colour, italics, bold, etc.) inside them. They work flawlessly on a PC, but Philips TVs do not support .ass/.ssa formats. So, if implementing a function to increase the font size is "too hard," how about adding .ass/.ssa support?

I know it's highly unlikely a Philips programmer will ever read this, but what the heck. That's all.

    Hi Toshiro10,

It has indeed been read, and it has also been forwarded to development

    Best regards,
