Cannot access samba resource with HMP7100

I have recently purchased an HMP7100 which I have connected in my network with my Asus RT-N16 router. The router has an USB-disk attached which contains media files. DLNA works with the HMP7100, but when I try to access the hard disk with SMB I am prompted with user and password credentials, even though this is not set on the resource. I have played back and forth with the settings on the router, but I cannot make it work. I have even tried making the a dummy user on the router with access, but the HMP7100 does not accept it. Maybe someone here has a solution because it's really starting to drive me crazy!

PS! The reason I want to access the hard disk via SMB and not DLNA, is because DLNA does not support .srt, .iso and some other file-extensions.

    Same problem here
    brand new 7100/12 vers 54
USB harddrive with 4TB connected to an AVM FRITZBOX 7490 as a NAS.
    keep getting authentication errors.
Via DLNA ist working fine, but then no subtitles...
other media boxes such as POPPSTAR or WD connect perfectly well to my NAS.
so its a Philips specific problem.
    and obviously still no solution.
    sad and bad news

    Dear forum members,

First of all I would like to welcome baysat and lamer to the Philips Support Forum, and thank you all for reaching out to us here.
All the SMB passwords are asked from the connected devices, either you have already set it up at some point, or you need to set it up in order to access the devices.
We do not have any usernames or passwords for this, since it has to do with the setup of the connected devices.
Hope you will solve this out.

    Kind regards,
    Philips - Christoffer

    hi Christopher

I think you got it wrong

My router has a USB device connected which is called a NAS.
Of course I have set a username and a password in my router to enable access to the 4TB harddrive NAS.
But when I connect via network with my HMP7100 to the Router and enter the username and password, the HMP tells me that there is an authentication error. why?
I have even created a new user in my router with different passwords etc,. and the same happens.
I have even removed the user and told my router to accept access to the NAS without authentication and still the HMP gives me authentication errors.
additionally let me say that if I connect to the same router using DLNA, it works fine with the HMP...so whats wrong?

I have the feeling that the username and passwords are not correctly handed over to the router, when not using DLNA ...may be a protocol problem?

Since I can connect to the same USB device with other media players such as a POPPSTAR box or the WD box, there must be a serious problem with the HMP.
    so any hint is welcomed...

    Hi baysat,

Thank you for getting back to us. Normally you would just have to press OK, when it requests a username and a password. If the files are located on a Windows PC, then sometimes you would need to enter a username and password (the same as to login to your user on the PC), but since you have the hard drive connected to a fritzbox then this should not be the case.
    Hope you can solve this.

    Kind regards,
    Philips - Christoffer
