BDP3200/79 not playing new blu-ray titles

    Hi there,

I have a BDP3200 with the latest firmware upgrade available (79) running on it. It has stopped playing new titles. Three times I have tried it with new releases and three times it wont even read the disc. All my old blurays play fine and it plays DVD's fine. Seems to me there has been some new encryption put over the latest discs which has rendered my philips blu ray useless.

    Discs that wont play:
    - Despicable Me 2
    - Pacific Rim
    - Fast & Furious 6

Are there any more updates expected for this product (79 was in Jan 2013) or is it dead in the water?

    Thanks...

    Dear Jibber,

as this is a 2009 model, some of discs with a newer technology (codec change) may not be supported.

Unfortunately, there is no firmware to support this model planned for the future. If the warranty is still valid, I would recommend you to take the disc and the player to the Local Service Centre and discuss the possibilities and options you have.

Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.

    Kind regards,
    Sarka

    Hi Sarka,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I purchase this player mid-2011 so it is now out of it's warranty period. Quite depressing that Philips only support their products for two more years after selling them. Unfortunately if it cannot play new releases it is quite simply useless as that is all I use it for, and it is not fit for the purpose it was sold for.

Thanks for your help - very dissapointed in Philips poor firmware support, my next player will be another brand for sure.

    Regards,
    Jibber

I had a 3100 bought in 2009 and changed in 2011 for a 3200 because some titles were not supported. Now after two year again the same problem. A big company cannot stop supporting his product after a couple of years. As this friend said before, this time I'll buy a different product. Bye
