BDP7300/12 not playing Narnia 3: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Dear support,
I have rented the BluRay disc of Narnia 3: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The disc has just been released so is brand new. My BDP7300/12 has the latest firmware installed, V1026.1 from Aug. 2010.
I have never had problems with BluRay before, this is the first one in a long series of BluRay discs I own or rent.
I have tried it several times: first the disc is loading very slowly, then sometimes it starts to a play "21st century fox" and then just hangs the player. I have waited several minutes, thinking that it might just be slow, but it didn't help. At that point I cannot turn it on or off, I can only unplug the power.
The disc itself was fine, because I was able to play it on my PC (which also has a BD player).
Knowning that it could be the latest protection, I'm suspecting that the firmware needs an update (after all it's almost a year old).
Any idea on how to resolve this, or when?
Thanks !
Patrick

Hi,
please post the printed barcode of the BD (see on the back side). This should help the Philips support to fix the problem.
In the meanwhile you could try to disconnect your BD player from network. Often the BD live needs to much time to play a BD disk. So, if BD live is not available the player should start immediately the BD movie...

is there any new firmware planned for this 2009 BDP7300 model? I would hope my BD player is not useless after less than 2 years..

Can it be, that the latest version (1111.6) is not offered as download? Is there a changelog?

I think they forgot to make it available on the support pages. The last one listed is from Aug 2010, v1026.1. However if you access the ftp site you'll find a more recent one from May 31 2011 (I still need to see if I can get my bd player to download this directly over the network connection).
Philips, please if there is a new version then make it available on the support site, and provide a change log!!

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/b/bdp7300_12/
files : bdp7300_12_hf1_eng.bin and bdp7300_12_hf2_eng.bin, dated May 31, 2011
edit: you can either automatically download those by using the BDP7300 firmware download via the network, or (probably) also by puting these files on a USB memory, in the "UPG" folder.Last edited by pmiddag; 06-16-2011 at 09:23 AM.
