Angry Watching movies in the original aspect ratio?

The TV stretches all movies to fill the entire screen. This makes everything look unnatural.

There is no "original aspect ratio" setting.

The problem exist for example when watching movies form an external USB hard drive.

You don't have the Unscaled option?

My 22PFL4208/K have the same problem. It stretch the image to fit the screen when i play .mkv from USB drive. In playback operation there is not available the Unscaled option, available only when watching HD tv.
With Xvid .avi file there is not the problem, they are displayed with the correct aspect ratio.

    Hi LucaR.

The option to use Unscaled picture format is only available in PC mode on your TV.

What picture format are the respective files in?

    Best regards,

    Hi Ina.

The unscaled opion works also with HDTV channel, and it would be useful available with any source.

The files wrong displayed are 1280x532, but if i remux them in .mp4 container, then they are displayed correctly.
The problem is with .mkv files.

The new Firmware 003.002.000.001 didn't solve the problem.

    Hi Luca.

That you are able to achieve a desired picture format with the .mp4 files is lucky, as the 1280x532 format is not natively supported in USB playback.

So if changing the file format from .mkv to .mp4 gives you the desired effect, then I would advise to do this of course. Otherwise the optimal ratio is 1920x1080 for USB playback.

    Best regards,
    Ina

I am concerned to know that the display of correct aspect ratio is luck, rather than the proper functioning of the TV.
Anyway I tried an .avi XviD with resolution 640x272 (aspect ratio 2.35:1) and it is displayed correctly, with black bars on top and bottom of the screen.
The problem is with .mkv files.

    Hi Luca.

Since the TV is not specified to adjust the aspect ration in USB playback, I cannot tell you anything else.
Unless you would like me to raise a bug ticket that it works with .avi and and .mp4, then all I can say is: Enjoy!

    Best regards,
    Ina
