    Current firmware: v000.173.044.000

Philips are not giving us any update on the errors we are experiencing. Especially the issue with IR remote controls that shuts off TV. This is a VERY big problem. I can't use my sound system, HD decoder, Apple TV or blue ray player!! Can someone in philips please PM me. I can´t believe that there is not a workaround FW for this available!? It´s been almost 2 months since release now.

I flashed the same version a second time and a lot of the problems i had went away, aspecially the one where the tv turns of at any infrared signal.
so i would recommned you do a factory reset and flash 173.44 a second time. it solved a lot of the problems i had.

    TV Model: 55PFL7108S/12
    Previous Firmware: 171.56

    Positive:
+ Haven't had enough time to enjoy TV features yet, just bought it...

    Negative:
    - Screen is permanently shifted 5 pixels to right in Game/PC mode, happens with 173.44 and 171.56 at least.

    TV Model: 42PFK7008/12
    Firmware 173.44 (previous 173.42)

    [Negative]
    - DVBC EPG guide still does not work (repeatedly reported in detail; TV appears to have the data but it is not displayed properly on TV)
    - Pause with HDD only works on DVBC HD channels, NOT on DVBC SD channels. When pressing pause on DVBC SD channels, screen shortly blanks and than live TV continues.
    - When having used pause feature on DVBC HD channels and resuming, subtitles are enabled automatically.
    - HDMI ARC still delivers garbled or no sound back to receiver (regardless which HDMI port is used).
    - HDMI CEC leads to system reboots or stops functioning somewhere halfway (problem seen on Martantz HDMI receiver, Raspberry PI, Mediacenter PC and PS3).
    - HDMI still does not accept DTS audio (DLNA and USB media playback does support DTS)
    - DLNA video still does not support subtitles, while other (cheaper!) Philips TV's do support this
    - Spontaneous system reboots, especially when using HDMI source or SmartTV (primarily Netflix in my case)
    - Netflix does not support Dolby Digital Audio on this TV (although it is available in my region when using on my PC or PS3)
    - When performing a TV start from a completely off system, enabling smart TV too soon leads to system crash (I have noticed that when waiting for the "HBB ON" red dot to appear at the lower right of the screen when in TV mode, SmartTV performance improves. This leads me to believe that the system has not completely booted yet, and starting SmartTV too early leads to erratic system behaviour. Maybe an idea to inhibit SmartTV
selection until complete system has booted?). I'd rather have a forced wait than an unexpected crash.
    - Enabling fast start options leads to system instability and high power consumption (~20W) when in standby mode.
    - In SmartTV mode, sometimes remote control disappears. Sometimes switching back to TV mode resets problem, sometimes TV needs to be unplugged completely to solve
    - PNM leads to ugly smearing of the image, especially around subtitles. Must have all images enhancers disabled at the moment to get a decent picture.
    - Why does SmartTV display advertorial like stuff in the upper right screen? I want to be able to disable this. Waste of valueable resources of the CPU, which is underdimensioned as it is anyway. Same for the TV preview. Allow us to disable this, will most likely improve performance of SmartTV.

    [Positive]
    + Slightly faster boot?
+ SmartTV background colour changes with time of day. Maybe this was present before, but now I've noticed and like this subtle feature
+ Now we can finally change the Wifi SSID. THANK YOU! :-)

All in all, after having this TV for nearly 8 months, I cannot say that matters have improved much.

I have noticed though, that when disconnecting the HDD I was using to pause live TV (a 2.5" 500GB Western Digital, power supplied by USB) that spontaneous reboots and shutdowns appear to have disappeared, or at least decreased significantly.
Is by any chance the USB port not capable of providing power to an external hard drive?

    Hi all,

For those of your experiencing that a non-TV infrared remote control is causing your TV to shut down when pressing any button, could you please supply the set details for your TV?

***Before doing this, please disconnect all external devices connected to TV and check that the issue still occurs***

Please send the following info to me in a PM (subject: IR ISSUE):

    - Full TV model number
    - TV serial number
    - Current software version installed on TV
    - Country of residence

    - Brand and model of remote control device
    - Or brand and model of universal remote

Please only send message if info is complete.

As a temporary work around, please remove power to TV for 2-3 minutes to alliviate the issue temporarily.

Thank you all in advance for your assistance!

    Best regards,
    Ina

P.S. To send me a PM click my user name, then click on Private Message. Please enter "IR ISSUE" in subject line.

Philips Polish website delivers changelog next to the update file:
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/c...scy=PL&slg=POL

    It's shortest changelog ever:
    QF2EU-0.173.45.0 (Date published: 2014-01-29)

    • Improvement on picturelevel for the 60PFL8708S.(Elevation set)

...and that's all! Moreover - yesterday it was impossible to update 42PFL7008K directly from the net. As soon as the update was downloaded TV restarted even without checking its integrity.

    Best regards,

    Lukas

    P.S.:
New update may be downloaded from here:

    TV Model: 47PFL6008S

    Previous Firmware: QF2EU-0.173.42.000

    Positive:
    +
    +
    +

    Negative:
    - TV turns itself off/goes into standby every now and then while watching TV. Happens most often directly after start-up. Sometime repeates itself several times. Only way to solve is it is a hard reboot as the TV does not respond to the remote or the buttons on the side panel.

    - Similar to above; the picture goes black but I still hear sound. Only way to solve is hard reboot (pull the power cord). Happens at least twice a day.

    - Still extremely slow GUI.

Are you by any chance using an external HDD that is powered by USB?
I have noticed when using such a HDD on a 42PFL7008 TV, TV showed erratic on/off behaviour.
After disconnecting the HDD, problem has disappeared.

No, I don't have an external HDD but I have a couple of USB flash drives connected. I've had those connected since I bought the TV though.
