I have purchased a 42PFL 7008 12K.. The firmware is updated. Sometimes the TV reboots (timer is set to ZERO minutes). TV turns off, then tries to start, turns off again and finally starts without any intervention from myself. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Short conclusion: version 173.44 is marginally better at best.
This TV is in my opinion still a long way from the type of product that one might expect from this brand and for this price tag.

I try to update the firmware. The current version is QF2EU-0.171.56.0. The TV finds a new version (not telling which) and I can start the update. After the TV is restarted (no info if the update is finished) I wait 10 minutes. Nothing appears to be happening. I turn of the TV, wait 30 seconds. I take out the power supply for about a minute. Then I plug it in, start the TV and look at the current firmware. Still the same!!
We bought the tv in august 2013, but it's so slow.... Starting up takes around 30 seconds. Switching between HDMI channels, takes around 10 seconds. (With losing the sound sometimes. Work-around: switch to an other input channel and than go back to the input. We use HDMI inputs and Scart. But we can't deactivate or make other inputs invisible. So you must select over the other choices)

Sound level is always 21 when TV is starting up. Way to loud! Why not the last sound level, or the possibility to adjust the startup level to 12 or something?.
We don't use the built-in WiFi, can this be turned off?
We don't use the smart-tv stuff (we have tablet, laptop and stuff), can this be turned off? (Making the tv a lot faster maybe?)

I have this issue too on my 40PFL8008K (which uses the same firmware as the 7008 series).

Although it sounds like our issues are a bit different:

    - When I listen to a TV channel that has a Dolby Digital stream it is out of sync when I listen over the TV speakers, but it's in sync when I listen over my receiver using HDMI ARC.

    - When I listen to a TV channel that has a PCM stereo stream it is in sync when I listen over the TV speakers, but it's out of sync when I listen over my receiver using HDMI ARC.

I haven't tested using the optical SP/DIF connection.

Regardless, there is an audio sync issue in this firmware, which other people have also confirmed in some of the 8008 threads.

I have the same issue with my 47PFL7008 connected to a Yamaha soundbar. If output mode is "multichannel" there will be an audio delay of about 200-250 ms that can't be adjusted with the menu options since the problem is that the video comes before the audio. If the output mode is changed to stereo this delay is down to a few ms (acceptable). Pretty frustrating!

    Hi,

I have 2 problems in this version.

    1. The TV irregularly goes to standby mode even with sleep timer put to 0.
    2. Upon pressing a button on any remote different than the one from the TV it switches off. It is happening with the blu ray remote and the Apple TV remote. This is enourmously irritating!

Hope for a more stable version in the next firmware update.

    Michel

    Hi!

    I own a 47PFL7108K with the latest FW (173.44).

    Couple of issues:
    - I can not choose either of the ISF profiles (ISF Day or ISF Night) in picture settings menu. They are locked and there is a small lock icon in front of them. How to resolve this?

    - I am not being able to program a TV channel to position 0 (zero) on remote control. Why is that? What am I missing, how to do this, cause there is no point in having empty button on TV's remote with no channel assigned to it, that just says, when you press it, "No channel installed!". So how to install a channel to it!??

    - Dynamic Backlight setting does not work as good as on earlier FW version and not nearly as good as on my two years older 42PFL7606H TV, which had much much better picture quality, even thou it's older generation! Can you make it at least to work the same?

    Thank you in advance!

Does anyone know the solution how to unlock the locked ISF presets or save a channel to position zero on RC!?

And, also, why is the ability to wrap round in menus not enabled like in the older Philips models?? It is just so frustrating and sloooow... It should be enabled again! I can not think of any good reason to leave it out. Anyone does? Philips, can you clarify why that is blocked/disabled?

    Hello everyone,

    I have a 47PFL7008K/12 that I upgraded to the latest 173.44 FW.
Unfortunately, I encounter a problem that I already had before:
Multichanel sound through SPDIF stutters! The higher the bitrate, the higher it stutters. For example, DTS signals does it a lot.
One could suspect the quality of my SPDIF optical cables, but the thing is that when the same signal comes from my media player (WDTV live Hub), everything works fine even for DTS.

If I set the SPDIF output of the TV on stereo, it works, but it's not the purpose of my 5.1 home cinema to play stereo stream...
I don't know if there is the same issue with HDMI ARC as my hardware isn't ARC compatible.

Also, a less frustrating issue with Youtube app: having the pointer working with it is great! But it disappears after playing a single video

Thank you in advance for your response, I hope that you'll be able to fix the SPDIF out issue as it would save me the use of a media player and its remote.

Good luck to all of you. Personally I got fed up. TV is refunded. Changing to other brand.

    Will miss the ambilight.

For me it is was simply not acceptable to have a SW this immature. It is worse than Beta development. The SW is not ready for release to end users like this.

    Hi,

I've got a 55PFL7108 TV since end of november 2013 and I also have some micro sound cuts using the Spdif output in multichannel to my Bose Sound Bar SR1. Same issue if I connect my TV to my Onkyo amplifier. Both are Dts certified devices. I've tried replacing my fiber cord but no joy.
The issue is the same watching Hd TV channels or other external source (Blue Ray, PVR, ...)

When I switch the sound mode to stereo, the issue desapears... But no more 5.1 : not acceptable.

Any explenation from Philips engineers ?

Just opened a case with the Philips support services. I hope they will have a solution otherwise i will ask for a refund.

    Hi all,

For those of your experiencing that a non-TV infrared remote control is causing your TV to shut down when pressing any button, could you please supply the set details for your TV?

***Before doing this, please disconnect all external devices connected to TV and check that the issue still occurs***

Please send the following info to me in a PM (subject: IR ISSUE):

    - Full TV model number
    - TV serial number
    - Current software version installed on TV
    - Country of residence

    - Brand and model of remote control device
    - Or brand and model of universal remote

Please only send message if info is complete.

As a temporary work around, please remove power to TV for 2-3 minutes to alliviate the issue temporarily.

Thank you all in advance for your assistance!

    Best regards,
    Ina

P.S. To send me a PM click my user name, then click on Private Message. Please enter "IR ISSUE" in subject line.

I'm having issues with the provided remote controler. Sometimes pressing on some buttons produces unexpected action. I.e: volume up switches off the Tv. This happens randomly but this not my biggest issue : no stable multichannel sound thru the spdif plug (see my post just above yours). I opened a ticket with the support by phone on monday but still no call back as announced by the agent that took my call, neither on the forum. Can anyone reply to me as it seems this is a recurring issue for many users ?
    Many thanks. Ecazin
