    Hi all,

For those of your experiencing that a non-TV infrared remote control is causing your TV to shut down when pressing any button, could you please supply the set details for your TV?

***Before doing this, please disconnect all external devices connected to TV and check that the issue still occurs***

Please send the following info to me in a PM (subject: IR ISSUE):

    - Full TV model number
    - TV serial number
    - Current software version installed on TV
    - Country of residence

    - Brand and model of remote control device
    - Or brand and model of universal remote

Please only send message if info is complete.

As a temporary work around, please remove power to TV for 2-3 minutes to alliviate the issue temporarily.

Thank you all in advance for your assistance!

    Best regards,
    Ina

Can anyone tell me what this "SDM" mean?

    edit
I forgot to write. I have problems with remote control too. Often when I push the buttons "list" or "options" tv changes the channel instead of openning the "list menu" or "options menu".
And I`m quite sure that I pushed the correct button on remote control.

    Hi DaFFyBZ,

SDM means "Service Default Menu". This only intended for servicing and for use by an authorised service technician.

This could easily be the cause of your issue with your remote control.

Please contact your local customer service team for assistance in this matter.

    Hi,

as always there are small fixes, which are never included in the changelog. So it is still worth to install this firmware on the TV (even if you don't have the Elevation).

After all the silence I always get my hopes up.

"Next firmware will surely do the trick - I mean it can't be that hard to make a decent firmware"
"Many people have reported the same issues and bugs. I'm sure they'll get them this time."
"It's been many months since the last firmware. I'll bet they have a surprise for all of us. Firmware that makes everything alright!"

Then out of nowhere the new firmware is downloadable. No change-log available. Thinking that the change-log must be massive because they're not able to release it similarly with the fw.

    Instant download and install.

Notice no difference at all. All the same bugs are still here. Nothing seems to be changed. Check if you really just installed the update. Feel crushed. It's going to be couple of months again until the next FW comes.

    Changelog hits the web:
    • Improvement on picturelevel for the 60PFL8708S.(Elevation set)

    Gee thanks.

edit. Also why do Philips seem to struggle with English language so badly. That changelog is ridiculous. I mean... what does picturelevel even mean? Makes me wonder if the software developers even understand really what's been written on this support forum. That would actually explain a lot.

Also if it didn't come across. I'm very disappointed that the new firmware didn't seem to fix anything. I've been waiting for months.... Pixel shift issue on game-mode, too aggressive dynamic contrast setting on standard etc. etc. they're all still there.

Something that NEEDS to be addressed since it seriously affects the experience:

Speed up the interface: krank it up. Guide is slow, SmartTV is slow. Why not preload the data in the background, iso as soon as you push the Guide button? The whole experience is 'sluggish', while it should feel fast, like any modern device should.

I am waiting for these kind of big fixes. Will they come, or will Philips continu to provide updates with minor tweaks? First solve the big issues.

    Hi,
I'm having this issue on my 40PFL8008S without an IR remote.
It appeared after updating to the latest firmware (v000.173.044.000 -> v000.173.045.000).

    - Philips 40PFL8008S/12
    - ZH1D1321003535
    - v000.173.045.000
    - Romania

    - Original Philips remote with qwerty keyboard

I think this occurs when I have an USB HDD attached.

    Hi Cristian,

The issue you are reporting on is only regarding NON-TV infrared remote controls turning off the TV with any button, unfortunately. Please elaborate on the issue you are experiencing with the TV remote control, as it is different.

Yes. The issue still remains with 173.45 (updated the day it came available).

No matter what the connected device or which HDMI port it's connected to. Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, HTPC all result the same. Different brands of HDMI cables are used too. 5 pixel shift in Game/PC mode still remains.

Also are you guys not able to reproduce the bug at your offices, or why are you asking further questions? This same bug seems to apply to all 2013 series products at the moment, based on this forum.
