    Subtitles in MKV file.

I just bought 47PFL6008S. Nice TV btw.

I have some MKV files (mp4 + srt subtitles) which play fine on my PDP 5200 Blue Ray Philips player. There I can choose if the subtitles are displayed or not. On the TV however, when I choose Options-> Subtitles -> Subtitles On, the subtitles are not displayed. I have tried numerous files, both from a USB stick and DLNA, on the 5200 subtitles are ALWAYS ok, but they NEVER display on the TV. Am I missing something?

    Best regs,
    -S

Is anyone from Philips reading this? Or is there a different way to get support?

    Hi guys.

My apologies for the late response.

Firstly, yes there is a different way to get support. You are always welcome to contact your local Philips Customer Service Team for direct support:
    http://www.support.philips.com/suppo...g_selector.jsp

In regards to the subtitles support on your TVs. Your TVs support separate subtitles via USB only. When streaming over network, the subtitles need to be embedded in the file container.

When attempting to user subtitles via USB playback, please ensure that the video file and the subtitle file share the same file name.

    Example:

    hollywood.film.avi
    hollywood.film.srt

    OR

    hollywood.avi
    hollywood.srt

If the file names do not correspond completely then the TV is unable to identify the subtitles for the video file.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi and thanks.

The subtitles ARE embedded in the MKV file and they do not work, neither over DLNA or from the USB stick. That is the problem. They works on the DB 3200 Blue ray player.

    Hi Snyrkill,

Could you please supply the following information so I can investigate the issue?

    - Full model number including the "slash code" (/12 or /60)
    - Serial number
    - Software version
    - File container codec information
    - Subtitle playback fails over network or USB?

For any other users experiencing issues with embedded subtitles in MKV containers, please also supply this info.

You can send it to me in a private message, if preferred, with Subject "MKV SUBS issue".

    Thanks!

    Ina,

    What about .sub files?
Could not manage to work them with .mkv movie.
Names were identically. Did not play neither via usb nor lan.

maybe others got some ideas too?

    thanks

    Hi Pashkustva.

We are currently investigating an issue with any embedded subtitles in MKV containers not being shown.

Separate subtitles will only work via USB and only if the file names of the subtitle and the video file match.

If your issue is with embedded subtitles in MKV container, please see above for requested information.

    Best regards,
    Ina
