Philips 17PT156B/00: cannot tune stations with remote SBC RU 240 II

Hello and thanks for this helpful forum.

I've recently bought at a flea market an old Philips TV model 17PT156B/00, made in Italy. It came with a Philips Universal SBC RU 240 II remote control.

The TV is not new but it works fine. The only thing is that it comes with a preset of stations but I cannot manage to tune any more channels. All I can do is to move existing channels around pressing the Shift key and 2.

There are only three buttons on the TV itself: MENU. + and - (minus).

I have experimented using shift and other key combinations but with no success, so I initially gave up.

One day I accidentally entered the tuning menu, I was quite sure it was by pressing SHIFT and 6, but then I tried again and it didn't work.

There's no manual online for the 17PT156B/00 and on the online manual for the remote, there's no mention of a tuning possibility.

If I reset the remote entering the key code for this model, would the TV auto retune?

    Or has anybody any clue?

I understand this is an old model so I don't expect an easy solution but any help and idea will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi ottavio2006,

Unfortunately it is not possible to re-tune this TV without the original remote control.

    Best regards,
    Ina
