AD7000W/12, red blinking indicator on startup

    After I connect the power
    • the indicator in the wifi setup button starts blinking fast (green)
    • the blue power indicator at the front of the unit starts blinking fast (blue)
    About 2 minutes later
    • the indicator in the wifi setup button starts blinking slower (red)
    • the blue power indicator at the front of the unit starts blinking slower (blue)
    • the “Philips Fidelio Airplay” network is not available

If I now hold down the power button (> 5 sec) nothing changes, the indicators remain blinking,
same after I release the power button.

If I then hold down the power button for a short time the indicators stop blinking, the unit seems to go to stand-by.

If I now hold down the power button for > 5sec to reset the unit and then release the power button nothing happens.

After holding down the power button for a short time the unit starts up again resulting in the blinking red light error again.

    Questions:
    1. Should I perform a reset in the stand-by mode or in the operational mode?
    2. How can I see that the unit is performing a reset ?
    3. What is the meaning of the red blinking indicator (dead unit ?)

    Hi,

Have you tried powering off the device for some time and connecting again?

    Cheers,
    Wilma

    Thanks for your reply.

I already tried this before based on information (hard reset) elsewhere in this forum, never the less i tried it one more time.
The unit was disconnected from the power for several days.
The result is as before, it ends up with a red blinking indicator in the wifi setup button.

    Cheers,
    Sonave

    Dear sonave,

High quality lossless audio transfer requires a large bandwidth. Therefore, a stable Wi-Fi connectivity is essential for seamless audio streaming by AirPlay.

Below are some tips for better audio streaming connectivity:

    1. Upgrade your Apple device to the latest iOS version. If you have opened many apps on iPod touch/iPhone/iPad, close the apps from the multitasking bar. Minimize the number of apps that are running on your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad.

    2. Minimize the sharing of Wi-Fi connections by multiple devices.
When there is internet connection activities (such as web browsing, social network access, email checking or usage of IP (internet protocol) camera through the Wi-Fi network, network connection could be occupied and this might affect AirPlay audio streaming performance.

    3. If the router offers “Auto Channel Scan” option, enable it.
This minimizes Wi-Fi connectivity interference, especially when there are multiple Wi-Fi networks in the vicinity.

    4. If you are using AirPort Extreme, make sure “802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)” is selected for Radio Mode. Do not select options with “802.11n only”.

    5. Upgrade your Airplay device.
Check the support page for the new firmware availability, and then update if there is any.

    6. Take off any metal protective case from the Apple device .
AirPlay performance would be affected if the Apple device is shielded by metallic material.

    7. If the router offers “Wireless Intelligent Stream Handling (WISH)” option or “Quality of Service (QoS)” option, enable them. This would improve AirPlay streaming performance.

    8. If the Bluetooth feature of any device in the vicinity is on, turn it off.
This would improve AirPlay streaming performance.

    9. Check the firmware version of your router.
Please contact your router supplier to upgrade the latest firmware version.

For further information, refer to Apple web page, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4215

    Dear Rafal,

    Thank you for your response.

I am sorry to say that in my opinion the provided tips are not relevant for my situation.
In order to allow manual or WPS supported connection to the WiFi network, the indicator in the AD7000W WIFI set-up button should be slow blinking green about 35 sec after power is supplied.

In my situation the indicator is slow blinking red, the SSID of AD7000W is not visible.
I used the InSSIDer software to verify this.
Many other WiFi networks are visible.

Once a WiFi connecties is established your tips will be very helpful to ensure uninterupted streaming.

Until then I ask you to answer the questions I raised in my original post.

    Best regard,

    Sonave

    Dear Sonave,

If after resetting the device, the issue still persists then this might indicate a faulty unit. Please refer it to an authorised repair centre.

    Kind regards,
