    HTL5120 connections

    Hello,

I am considering purchasing one of these. I have sky and a 3D bluray player, can someone recommend the best way to connect these, soundbar and the TV please.

My TV does have ARC, but donít really understand too much how that works. Does the soundbar have 3D pass thru?

    Dear critterchum,

You can connect HTL5120 to your TV via HDMI ARC. Please see page 7 of the user manual for the complete list of connection options:

    OK,

So you are saying that I connect my dvd player and Sky to the tv via HDMI and then HTL5120 to the TV by HDMI usind the ARC HDMI connection on the TV? This then will give me the sound out of the sound bar from all inputs to the TV.

Alternately I can use the optical out from the tv and this will do the exact same thing?

    Hi,

To connect all of the devices you mention the best way is:

    1. Sky and Bluray player to the soundbar on HDMI1 and HDMI2.

    2. HDMI Out on soundbar to the TV.

    Kind regards,

But the bluray is 3D, does the soundbar have 3d pass through then?

    Dear critterchum,

The answer is yes. HTL5120 has a 3D pass through. The connection above remains valid.

The HTL5120 has been discontinued by Philips for completely inexplicable reasons. The next similar product is the HTL7180 at more than double the price. Your guess as to why Philips chose to stop production on a such popular product is as good as mine.
