BDP-2105 Netflix choppy video and audio

I am having very bad performance with Netflix on my BDP-2105. Both the video and audio are choppy. It is like the show/movie is constantly buffering and can't keep up. When I try to get back to the Netflix or home screens, it takes a long time. It is like the processor can't keep up.

I have a 20+MB internet service. I have used Netflix on my Roku (with the same connections) with no problems. I got this player because of the Netflix feature so I could move the Roku to my home theater.

I have the player connected via HDMI. DVDs play just fine. I have the player connected via a wired connection.

Can you please provide some options that I have for getting this fixed?

    Dear EvanP,

    1. Is you software up to date?
    2. Are other services such as Pandora, Vudu working fine?

    Kind regards,

Thank you for the quick response. The DVD player was updated with the latest software the first day of operation. I have not checked any other streaming services yet. I will do that and report back.

    Same issue

EvanP, you are not alone. I bought the same model a couple of weeks ago, and I have had that exact problem all the time.
I have tried upgrading firmware and resetting it but the issue persists.

I have noticed something on mine though: When you turn on the blu-ray player and start watching Netflix it works fine, but as time passes it starts skipping (choppiness) and it becomes sluggish and responds very slow when you press buttons on the remote. It comes to a point that it simply stops responding and the only way around it is to power off the unit and power it back on.

A quick search on the Internet shows that many users have this same problem. I don't know you but mine is going back to the place I bought it from. I have 30 days to return it so I won't wait any longer. I got it for a very good price...perhaps it was too good to be true.

I'm experiencing the same unresponsiveness as well as the bad streaming quality. It gets so bad that the power button doesn't even respond. I have had to unplug the unit to get it to work. Unfortunately I bought this as a gift for Christmas and gone is the box. I still have the receipt but not sure the store will take it back without the box. I'm hoping that Phillips will put some effort into fixing an obvious technical issue. The unit needs to be fixed or it is getting replaced soon. My kids are getting tired of their shows not working, and I'm tired of telling them there is nothing I can do.

Are others problems just with Netflix or with the other streaming apps? My wife watched a VUDU movie without any issues but then again she watched a Netflix movie without issues as well. Why is it intermittent? So frustrating!
