    Thumbs up Experience thread - FW v3.1.0.1 - for 42x8, 44x8, 45x8 and 49x8 - 2013

    Hi,

The new FW is live. For technical feedback (positive and negative points) please post here:
    http://philips.to/1b9V5yA

This thread is mainly for details and discussions.

This FW is applicable to /K models only.

    IMPORTANT:
After upgrading your TV, it is necessary to perform a "cold start". This means that, after the TV is running again (after the update), shut down the TV, wait 1 minute (till all components are shut down), and unplug the TV from the mains (pull power cord) for 2 minutes before starting again.

    NB!
Please also ensure all external devices are up to date with the latest software.
If you are encountering any issues after a software update, please disconnect all external devices and reinstall the TV:
Home > [Setup] > [TV settings] > [Reinstall TV]

    Please note:
Reinstalling the TV will mean any connected HDD for USB recording/timeshift will need to be re-formatted, therefore erasing any pre-existing content.
Reinstallation will also involve reinstallation of channels on all the internal tuners. This may take some time depending on provider.

It is not okay that technical feedback should be treated in the background. Everybody should be able to find the various messy issues through a search engine and get the confirmation on strange behaviour of his TV set.

The actual Firmware TPM1013E_003.001.000.001 is much more than the usual desaster. What Philips has released here cannot be topped by a less functional software. Examples:

    - HbbTV runs only if external HDD is disconnected. If HDD is connected, the red button opens the same menue is as with old firmware.

    - Without HDD, HbbTV is partial functional but it takes 3-4 secs to switch a channel.

    - After a couple of channels it is visible that HbbTV still is some channels back.

    - With connected HDD, a functional recording has been completely destructed by this FW release.

    - No stable un-interrupted audio and video. With old firmware and same HDD both was fine. Re-formatted HDD but without any effect.

    - Neither time-shift nor recording through EPG works out normal.

    - Tried a 32Gb USB stick instead of HDD but the baviour is exactly the same.

    - If HDD is connected the audio bar disappears.

    - Even without HDD sometimes HbbTV doesn't work after TV set is powered on. Then the same screen as with "old" firmware appears.

    Best regards,

    Willi

    Hi Willi,

If you are suggesting that we somehow "censor" the Technical Feedback, I can assure you that we do not!

The Technical Feedback threads are very specific and to help users stay on topic and only use the Experience Threads for discussions, we have set these threads up in this manner.

Also, I can now merge your 2 posts and create a better overview for other users quite easily.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi Ina,

any comments yet on the malfunctions ? Am still looking for a failure on my side because it is so unbelievable what you have released. Heard a couple of other users say "this was definetely my last Philips".

I hope that you are aware that you are going to destruct your business by this level of untested software. How can this happen ?

    Best regards,

    Willi

    Hello,

    The issue I describe here:
    http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...-pitched-sound
is actually related to version 3.1.0.1, not 3.0.0.1.

Version 3.1.0.1 is the version the TV chose to download and intall, but is not the one available from Philips' French support website (3.0.0.0).

This version 3.1.0.1 is a nightmare, my TV is not working any more!

Having no reply to my email request in 5 working days, I called the phone support this morning. Basically, they told me there is nothing they can do, and I should call the shop I bought the TV from, to see if they are OK to send someone home to do a forced downgrade or something...

This terrible support from Philips is truly amazing! They break my TV with their untested FW upgrade, and then they don't want to care about it... Never seen such a bad service!

Is there someone from Philips here? Please at least tell me if I can downgrade myself manually to 3.0.0.1, since the version is still on the website.

As far as I'm concerned: Philips NEVER, EVER AGAIN!. I'm an audio addict and I was considering buying one of their Fidelio headphones, but I certainly won't now.

    Hi,
this software update is not showing up. I really need this update because the 3.0 update broke the CAM / Digital TV.

PS I have a 4258 model and live in the Netherlands

    Hi BasTel,

Please ensure that your TV is a /K model. If it isn't then the software is not applicable to your TV.

You can check the full model number on the back of your TV on the barcode sticker.

The model number would have this format: xxPFL4258#/xx
The hashtag indicated the "slashcode" letter.

If you do have a /K model you can find the software on our support pages by searching your model number:

    TV: 39PFL4208T/12

Issues so far with new firmware:

    - The high pitched sound on TV boot (explained in this topic)
    - TV goes straight to USB-browser if USB is plugged while TV is booted.
    - OSD (mainly vol/mute) symbols disappear. Often it happens if TV is muted upon boot (ie. sound is loud and you quickly turn down vol), and it seems that the TV gets stuck with missing OSD symbols until TV reboot.
    - after update; Vimeo app will not go into full screen.

This feels VERY much like beta testing

    Hi Ina,

you should write that the software should apply for the .../K models :-). In reality it applies for nothing which makes some fun. Can you tell affected users something about exchange of this malware against an applicable firmware ?

If this time is too long i tend to get rid of this TV set gain because it is completely useless now.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Willi

    Hi Ina,

any news on replacement of this malware ? Need to decide way forward with or without Philips/TP-Vision. The 22PFL4208K TV set is completely useless with TPM1013E_003.001.000.001 !

    Thanks and best regards,

    Willi

No answer on my question since 10 days. Since Philips has announced to divest the last part of TV Segment, support seems to be down to zero ?
