PFL4208H/12 cannot register to smart TV

    Hello,

I have some persistent problem with accessing my smart TV application. I cannot see more than a demo mode. It freezes on 'registering' message after 5 minutes and then returns to the top level menu ('connect'). First I thought that it may be an issue with networking. I disabled firewall, forwarded ports 80 and 443 to the tv. Still no luck. It hadn't happened on 2.x fw.
    Firmware:
    TPM1013E_003.000.000.001
    PQV0.34 2013/07/08
    AQV1.08 130521
    Netflix3.2.2-rel-1539680
    MAC 1c:5a:6b:22:2f:f3
I saw similar on fhe forum and someone recommended downgrading fw, then register the smart tv and then update to the lates. Unfortunately I don't have old fw images. I tried also cold restart, factory reset and tv reinstall. Please advise and thank you for your help.

Never, ever, ever downgrade firmware. It will not downgrade the standby software, which can result in compatibility issues, and in worst case, bricking your TV.

Are you connected through wired (ethernet) or wireless? Try testing on another network/router.

I am using wired connection. The thing is, smart TV worked before TV went to service (faulty BSS chip). When the TV returned, smart TV worked a couple of days, then it stopped working after it updated automatically. I haven't changed anything in my networking setup, and am still using same router as before. I did try it also on an older router which I am currently not using at home with same results. The funniest thing is that HBBtv services work so I believe it is not the case with connectivity itself. Per this downgrade, I saw this recommended by a philips support specialist, so this is not like I came into this idea on my own.

I am connecting via wired. I tried wireless on two different routers with the same outcome. I was referring to the downgrade as I saw some Philips specialist recommended this worked for certain TV models. I haven't got any problems before 3.x firmware was uploaded.

This Philips TV is one of the worst devices I bought in my life
Continuous problems, hardware and software issues, there is no way to use this stupid thing like you should.

We bought the 32pfl9705h as the top model. Pretty expensive in relation to other brands. And plenty of problems. After a few months they replaced the complete interior (except the mains). Problems keep coming back, every few months. Today again: "unable to connect to Smart TV". I suggest Philips rename the thing to STUPID TV, that's what it seems to be. Rubbish, no value for money.

Friends of us own Samsung TV's. They work like they should, no problems....
So do yourself a favour, and buy a Samsung! And live your life without worries!!
