    Question WAC700 WPA2 Key Problems

    Hi,

Hope someone can help with this. I've had a couple of WAC700 stations for a while now and they been unused for a quite some time. I remember a few years ago I changed my router and I couldn't get the wireless working. Specifically the WAC700 centres would not remember the WEP key. Anyway I gave up until now.

I now have another new router and am using WPA2 on the network. I have tried both centres using both the original installation software and hardwiring the centres to my Windows XP laptop's ethernet port. I've also tried WACHandler with the same results.

In summary I can set the SSID of my network and can set the channel number but everytime I enter the WPA2 encryption key and reboot the centre the password (as accessed through the information menu on the centers) shows as blank. When I re-connect the centers via ethernet and view the settings again using the WACHandler software this field is indeed blank.

The WPA2 key is only 8 characters long (with no special characters at all) so its easy to check if its been entered correctly. I've now done this dozens of times with the same result - I cannot get either centre to retain the encryption pass key.

Does anyone have any suggestions or is it time to retire these units permanently?

    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Bjd,
I have wacs7500 and when I connect to the unit to se the configuration the wireless key field is blank even if units are connected to the network and working.
The field containing password or passphrase usually are set blank by the manufacturer in the firmware because for security reasons.
Aniway I can suggest you to try to use wpa protocol with tkip option, some old wireless card can have problem working with wpa2 and aes.
I hope you will solve your problem.
    Good luck!

    Hi !
I can conform that WPA2 does not work with the WACS700 system, only WEP and WPA.
And annecchi is 100% right, the WACS will not display the WEP/WPA key (would be a big security breach if it did).

    Cheers !
