No 5.1 Sound from my PC when connected to Philips HTB5570D/12 via HDMI

    Hello,
I have a problem trying to get 5.1 sound from the HDMI output of my PC.
The only option I have at the configuration of the speakers is Stereo sound and even though I tried a dozen of drivers the past week (even tried another PC), I still get the same result.

Christos, can you please give me more information about the sound card used? Is it able to send 5.1 output?

    Thanks.

    Kind regards,
    Sarka

    Hello Sarka,
I dont have an extra sound card...
However the sound card of my motherboard supports 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel audio...
Still, since i use HDMI, the sound should be transeferred via the Graphics Card...Right?
    Thank you,
    Christos

Yes, the sound output should be passed through the graphic card.
Are the drivers of the sound card up to date?

Furthermore, does the HTB5570D support 5.1 sound from a different source (i.e. external BDP)?

YES, all the drivers are up to date!!!
I also tried older drivers just in case...

At the second question the answer is also YES!
I connected an external blue ray player and the 5.1 was just fine!

After reading the manual of HTB5570D/12 i managed to get 5.1 sound from the speakers, although windows still show that they are connected to stereo speakers....

PS. I hope these settings of the sound were accessible from the menu of the home cinema and not only from the option button of the home cinema remote control
