Philips 47PFL7656 + Ipad Mini with IOS 7 running ambilight + hue

    Hi,

I have 47PFL7656 TV (with Ambilight 2) with the latest firmware + Starter kit with 3 E27 bulbs + Ipad Mini IOS 7.
My problem is, that the app doesn't seem to sync the colours on both sides of the TV.
The built in ambilight in the TV seems to work properly, as it is matching the dominant colours on the sides perfectly, but the Ambilight + HUE app seems to follow the left side of the TV only.
I tried to position the bulbs on the virtual screen of the app the way they are physically positioned (2 bulbs to the left and 1 to the right), but if I have a scene on the TV with full red on the left and full green on the right, still all the bulbs turn into RED. After several reconfiguration, the best I could get out is that if I position all the bulbs on the APP virtually to the right of the screen, they won't follow the left side of the TV's Ambilight, but they don't follow anything on the right side of the TV's Ambilight (let it be any colour) either, so they will remain white.
If I just run Philips HUE app, I can change the colour of each bulb individually, so I don't think it is an issue of the Bridge or any of the Bulbs.
Can this be a bug of the Ambilight + Hue app? Or the TV is not communicating something well?

Many thanks for the help in advance.

    Kind Regards,

    Jalso

    Hello Jalso,

Your problem seems to be the same as mine : http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...-on-47PFL5038H
    Maybe it's an issue with 47PFLXXXX TV's ?
I've opened my thread in november and still no update from the support team. I'm very disappointed.

    Hi Cyril,

I think that the problem is with the Ambilight Spectra 2 system. If I search the web, for videos where Ambilight and HUe are being demoed, I find that in almost all the videos, people are using Ambilight Spectra 3 or XL, that are more evolved.
    However, try out the following:
Push the home button on your TV's remote control.
    Select "TV settings".
    Select "Ambilight".
    Select "Separation"
There should be 3 values to select, "Off", "Minimum", "Maximum".
Select "Minimum". This may reduce the WOW effect of your TV's ambilight, but it helps your bulbs to follow your TV's ambilight colours (or if not, the colour differences are going to be less distracting.)

Another interesting thing. I have started to realise, that if I try to view any video on my Ipad (directly from Youtube or embedded video in Facebook), all my bulbs are getting dimmed to 0 (switched off). If I stop or quit from the video, bulbs won't switch back on, unless I restart the Philips Ambilight + Hue application. If autio-dimming at video start is a normal function, then that is fine as viewing any video in darkness is better, but it would be nice if lights were being switched back on automatically when I stop or quit from the video.
    Are you experiencing anything similar?

    Hi Jalso,

in my TV, there is not "Separation" menu.
Under "Ambilight" menu, there are :
    Mode : off / dynamic / static
    Brightness : from 0 to 10
    Dynamic : from 0 to 10
Advanced : wall color, TV switch off and lounge light mood
Have you seen the video i've made ? As you can see, when my screen is paused on a fixed image, my bulbs are still changing colors by theirselves, without any visible link with ambilight LED's.

Concerning your problem : when i play a video on Youtube, i see a notification which says "Ambilight + hue has been paused" and my bulbs are switching to initial colors (they're not turning black as you).
And if i close the Youtube app and switch to Ambilight+Hue, i don't need to turn on ; my bulbs are switching to my bad ambilight mode.

    Hi cyrilpradel,

Could you please ensure that your TV has the software version 14.105 installed?

If not, please try to update to this version manually with the software download found on our support website:

    http://philips.to/1dUzM9C

You can also find the installation instruction on the same page.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi Ina,
I'm sorry, i've hijacked this thread. My TV model is 47PFL5038H and the link you gave me was for Jalso's TV model (a 47PFL7656T)

try to bring your bridge closer to your tv, I was experiencing a bit same kind of problem, the lights are not reachable by your bridge. bringing the bridge closer to the lights and tv might solve the problem. However the problem of ambilight pausing each time a video plays on the ipad is still here and very frustrating.
